Another matchplay game today, this time in a little league we are running, It was an early(for me) start and I was 3 down after 3 holes, I did steady myself and turned 2 down but then with a combination of better play from me and poor play from my opponent, i won 6 of the next 7 to win the match 4&2. Not my best golf but pleased I didnt let my bad start get me down

North Berwick links today 😍. What a wonderful place to play golf. High quality links, course in immaculate condition. Some funky holes, huge greens. After about 8 holes I realised I hadn't had a first putt under 20 odd metres.

Strong headwinds going out, strong tailwinds coming in. I liked coming in more 😄.

Really happy with how I played, particularly off the tee. Putting was much improved although I did occasionally throw in some weird ones from nowhere.

It isn't cheap, full of Americans paying a small fortune, so I recommend finding a member and becoming their friend. Or as in my case, find a friend who has a friend who is a member 😆. Well worth the planning to play here, it's a great course.

Incidentally @Liverbirdie , were you there today walking the course? One of my pp was talking to a guy from liverpool who was part of the GM 100 ranking raters. Couldn't get a tee time for today but was in the area. Fits your profile.

County seniors championship today at Parkstone. Shot 1 over my handicap but it could have been so much better. A couple of 3 putts, not because the greens were fast, but because they were sloooow and l left a couple of downhillers woefully short. Pace of play was also slow. 4.5 hours for a three ball. We were waiting on almost every shot after the third tee shot. Currently 6 off the pace so all to play for tomorrow. I just hope they remember to lower the mower blades in the morning.

played 9 last night and it was poor.

An unmentionable on the 1st tee - lost ball

Power fade on the 2nd tee - lost ball.

2nd ball on the 2nd - sliced - lost ball.

Putted like a prick as the greens hadn’t been cut since Saturday

Can’t wait for the medal on Saturday

My first match in the seniors individual KO, my opponent had a PH of 19 so I'm giving 6 shots.
He had a net 89, 17 over par in Monday's medal comp, today he was 1 over handicap when we shook hands on the 15th green.

He never got into trouble once whereas I was mediocre.
I had a bad day on the greens too so I can't really complain but it goes to show, never assume you might have an easy ride!

So that's out in the first round of both KOs I entered this year, pretty much the same as last year except then it was three KOs I entered....
I usually enjoy matchplay too! :ROFLMAO:

Off today so played 9 by myself there at 10.45

Sun getting up so happy to leave it at that. Tried a bit of left hand low putting. OK for the short ones. Feel like I lose a bit of feel on longer putts. Will try again.

What made you want to change? I recently tried claw grip because I felt I was missing short-ish putts by a lot, but I hated it. Couldn't get the pace or line right. Toyed with left hand low on the putting green but I just ordered a TM Spider instead.

Played last night in the midweek sweep and I'm actually getting worse which is hard to believe. Lost 4 balls, had to chip out sideways on 3 other tee shots, had 4 thins/tops and net double bogey saved me from posting over 90 on my record. At least my putting was back to being decent (stood the putter more upright which seemed to allow me to get my putts rolling on line at least) and I did have a 2 after a great 6 iron to about 2 foot on the 11th hole.

No idea where this has came from but I wish it would go back to wherever it was.

Round 2 today. Going along nicely until I doubled 15. Poor tee shot followed by a 3 putt 😢. Finished 3 over for a total of 8 over for the two days, which equates to level handicap. Scorchio for two days with very little wind so my golfers tan is coming along nicely 🌞

Pla yed in a Stableford today, strange round, I scored 34 points, but what a strange round, I had a blob and seven single point holes offset against 7 pars and 2 birdies, i also had 3 three putts and a 4 putt, most annoying as the first was for an eagle. \still I feel like I am in good form for the club championship on Sunday, although i have probably just jinxed that.

Just revisting it to see if there's anything in it for me. I do a bit of putting on the carpet at home and try it from time to time. It feels very stable but unnatural at the same time. The stability perks my intrest. The unnatural feeling has become less so than in times past.

Out for another 9 holes this evening. Bit of fun we played a scramble.

I played yesterday, shot a 78 (par 70), playing off 9.4 CH 11.
Pleased overall with how I played, lost ball off the tee on 9 cost me a couple of shots, got very unlucky on 15 to end up behind a tree with no kind of shot to progress forwards (though I shouldn’t have been towards trees anyway). Didn’t hold any long putts couple of 10-12 footers that’s it.
Had a lesson on Weds so putting some of the things I’d worked on to good use yesterday. Long May it continue

Just back from an open at Bolton Old Links.

Just a fantastic course and some of the quickest greens I've ever played on. Thanks to a few showers this week they'd softened up a *bit* but I wouldn't have fancied playing on them if they were baked out as they will have been a week ago.

I played awfully but there were a few glimmers of hope with the driver. Obviously the rest of the game fell to pieces but it'll come back.

Highlights were chipping in for birdie on 9 and a 370 yard drive on the par 5 13th - I was still the third shortest in our group 🤣. My mate hit the flag with his second and said he was so glad it hadn't gone in as he was 3 off the tee and it would have ruined it for him knowing he'd got an albatross but with his second ball.

Great course, great company, great moments.

I was at Roseberry Grange today, a solid if unspectacular course but at £20, you can't grumble. Mid-iron play was bang average but the rest of my game was on pretty good form. Driver and putter are keeping scores reasonable. 84, a good run out and finished just before the heavens opened. Nobody needs to know about my 4-putt on the bewildering 1st green.

Nice course BOL, had great fun there a few years ago with Liverbirdie and garyinderry when we played in a greenkeepers revenge, not quite so fun was when I had a 12 foot birdie putt that finished 50 yds down the fairway in a team match

Great day that Lou. Remember they stitched us up a kipper by putting the wee flag at the back of the first green and the actual hole was away down at the front of the green. :)

hah ha yes, that was nasty especially as we had all hit great shots to that flag, I particularly remember Pete leaving his putter and having the long uphill walk to retrieve it

I played my 3rd matchplay of the week today, this time in the clubs 4BBB knockout, my partner Jackie plays of 25 so was getting 14 shots off me, our opponents were getting 4 and 6, Jackie had a blinder and when someone off that handicap has a good day there isn't much anyone can do, she had several nett pars, a couple of net birdies, I chipped in with a few pars and we had a relatively easy 6&4 win.
