I played today and..(Rolling) -originally created by JohnnyDee

Thanks for the invite Voyager EMH. Had an enjoyable day even though the golf was mixed.

I had to smile on the last where there was the nearest in 2 prize on a par 4 of around 325 yards. We were the third last group and the leader was just 4ft from the flag.

Voyager’s neighbour thinned his approach, but it ran up onto the green to 3.5ft from the flag. Voyager then hit a great short iron to 3ft. The other member of the group then put his second to just 8ft. Unfortunately, it took me three to the green so I wasn’t part of this excellent finish. As noted, the others holed out leaving Voyager not needing to take his birdie putt.
It was my 45° Gap 9-iron ;)

While I had to fuss-about with the nearest-the-pin marker, other two holed out. I found it comical that I did not need to putt.
"Well I'm going to putt out, even though I won't write my sore for the hole on the card. I just want the last shot of the day, so there!" - or words to that effect I spoke.

It's not often you get a gimme birdie, I'd have taken it and picked it up. 😂

Seniors KO today. Had to give 18 shots😳 but I prevailed with a 4/2 win. Our greens were true and fairly quick, but nowhere near as quick as Sauntons were on Wednesday.

Played medal yesterday came second to a 48h/ whose just under half my age😱

Oh well they all got to start somewhere, …….maybe 36 would have been enough😂

Depends. I agree somewhat.

I took up golf as an able bodied bloke in my 40s. I promised myself I wouldn’t even get a handicap or do comps until I could get one that was non-embarrassing (which meant less than 20 to me). Zero criticism of anyone with a different view or approach - that’s just what I personally felt happy doing).

BUT - if the higher handicap range available now allows an older beginner, or someone (of any age) with a significant disability to play in regular club golf competitions that would otherwise always have been 20 shots beyond them, then I am all in favour.

Shot 4 over today, missed so many putts it was crazy, finally missed a 3 footer on the 17th and then 3 putted from 12 foot on the last....good news is I went out point 1....

I was the same, I didn't even join a golf club until I could play to 28 handicap or below, as that was the maximum then. I suppose increasing the max might have driven more club memberships - I still think 36 would have been plenty though!

Board comp today

Had 22 points going through 15 holes. Managed to finish strong to get a respectable 31 points

Finished 36th out of 70.. which is decent enough for me

The winner was Lewis orfords dad which is pretty cool as a west ham fan

71 net (one under par) waqs a decent score today. Fairways and greens are rock solid, so made it both easier (distance) and hard (control). Putting was a bit crap, but a good day overall.

Club V1 down so no idea how people did. Reasonable round from myself with one blow up hole otherwise would have played roughly to handicap. Nice weather.

Game of two halves.
20 putts (yes, putts not points) on the front nine and 13 putts on the back nine.
I think I'll be well down the board with 32 points today, but I might beat anyone I tie with, as my back nine is 5 shots better than the front. (Only 4 points better though)

Made a SD of 7.0 today, but 3.6 dropping off means up 0.2 to 4.1. That is my exact Nov 2020 WHS starting hcap.

Got a 2.
That's 5 in 9 comps so far this year. And I did not get one in the first 3 comps. :D
