I played today and..(Rolling) -originally created by JohnnyDee

Fiar play to you but I can't think of many things in golf more soul destroying than playing a Medal on a 7200 yard course...... 😲

The major is off it next weekend aswell, but at least they isn't stroke play lol 🤣

Frustratingly I been practicing off the blacks past few rounds ..scored well enough to be only a few over handicap on the 95% handicap but wasn't my dad

Was happy when I got that par , meant bugger all in the grand schemes but felt like it wasn't a wasted morning lol 🤣

Society are over midweek and they are off the yellows and their 1000 yards shorter so will be nice change

First ever medal today, proper baptism of fire

Brutal winds off the 7200 back tees

Posted My worst ever score but tbh I was delighted that I plugged on

Scored a 9 on the 4th after taking a drop and losing a ball

A solid bogey on the si1 I thought right that's gonna kick me off.. smashed the next drive 210 into wind.. ended up greenside bunker and couldn't get out lol 🤣

A 5 off tee on 12 summed up the day

But then 14-18 I played some solid golf

15 I managed a respectable bogey on the 635 par 5

17 got a lovely par

18 I almost chipped in for par aswell

So plenty to build on

Got a score to beat on my next medal aswell
7200 yards? Is this a DP World Tour event?

That can't be much fun, must be hitting headcovers more than irons at that distance.

It does feel like every second shot is my 4 wood lol 🤣

Luckily there's not that many events on the blacks now days but the medals always are

Be nice to take irons into the greens off the yellows wednesday rather than woods

Yeah, absolutely no chance I would have been entering that. My course is like 1500 yards shorter. 😂 Would feel like playing 22 holes.

Our place is 6,900 yards off the tips and all medals and board competitions are played from them. The medals are tortuous so I tend not to bother.

I played today at John O'Gaunt in the Bedfordshire County Foursomes event. Never played the course before but have heard many good things about it and it was all deserved praise. The course was in fantastic condition and the facilities were great too.

My partner and I had a combined handicap of 15. We played super solid golf all day, we made two quads, one in the morning and one in the afternoon, but we also made two good birdies, one being a lovely little chip in with a 9 iron for me.

After round one we were 3rd place with a nett 72, one over par. We finished round 2 with a nett 73. They give prizes for nett and gross for round one, two and overall but you can only win one prize per team. Pleased to say that we won the overall nett and bagged a very welcome £60 voucher each too.

One thing though, I cannot believe how bitterly cold it was - going from 28 degrees on Thursday to 11 today with a horrid wind that made it feel like 3 or 4 degrees was insane!

Played Glenbervie today hosted by @kp17 . What a cracking course and great company. Couldn't putt which on those greens isn't ideal but enjoyed it immensely, thanks Kevin.

Great day and great to meet you mate. Course is playing fantastic for so early in the season.

So results are in and 32 points has won the comp. Only 70 brave souls in it and I witnessed at least 8 people walk off.

Looks like best gross was the club champ who is +3 and he shot 82 so I’m actually delighted with my score now.

What’s the max PCC? 😂
PCC of 3, I'm assuming that is the maximum? No one broke 80 even with adjusted scores for blobs. There was a guy off -0.2 who had an adjusted 80 (2 blobs), best gross was actually 81 by a guy off -0.3 then an 82 by a guy off -2.7. Winner shot 88 off of 12, no one was even close to playing to the course rating of 72.4.

I believe 3 is the highest it goes, yes. I've never actually seen it happen myself. 😄

Sunday swindle yesterday

Nice solid level par round in a brisk challenging wind

Managed to sneak 2nd place

2 silly three putts were my only blips

Did manage to slot a nice birdie on our SI 1 - drive just over 320 left a GW to 8 foot and sinked the putt - for a half in our 4bbb friendly 😂

21st May last year we had PCC +3

I was 12 over par, got a score differential of 7.0 and came 7th out of 23 entrants. (Par 70)

Winner was 97 - 25 = 72 (Par = 70, CR 70.8, SR 132)

In 2023 we had 3 comps with PCC +2

Decent front 9 and one of my playing partners collapsed over his 2nd shot on the 11th. Got him back to the clubhouse ok, but really wanted to finish my round

Played a fun waltz with the swindle today

A bit more wind today but hit the ball very well

We got 114 points I think with the winners 125

I was 4 under with my own ball - eagled our 3rd , another birdie on SI 1 😂

Played at Goswick yesterday in their Open. First strokeplay comp I've played in in a long time!

After basking in mid 20s when playing wednesday it was a bit of an adjustment to playing in 8 degrees and a 30mph wind that made it feel about freezing. The pro shop must have cleaned up in wooly hats sales!

To give some idea of how difficult it was I ended shooting 20 over (with a 9!) for a net 78 and ended up 23rd out of 123 competitors. I don't think anybody broke net par and the top of the leaderboard was largely lower handicappers. Once the +3 PCC was added this morning and the 9 reduced to net double it's actually ended up being a counter and leading to a 0.3 cut!

Goswick was superb though, fantastic condition and great layout.

As an aside I'd finally got my 90s blades back after having them refurbished and absolutely loved using them off the tight fairways! Bizarrely I'm terrible with my long irons in my normal clubs but have absolutely no issue with the butter knives in this set.
