Two solid rounds over the weekend

Saturday - 3 putt start on the 1st 🤬 , followed up by 3 birdies over the next 5 holes

A bit of poor luck on the back gave me two bogeys but finished level par

Today having to play of +2 in the swindle , couple of early birdies but two bogies in the last 4 holes gave me 34 points and another level par round

Just need our main 11th back open so I can put cards in

Went to the driving range in St Andrew’s with the boy this morning. Then played 9 at Ladybank this afternoon in a hefty breeze, and for some reason the tees were all off the tips. Couple of dodgy drives for the first two holes but picked up from 3, shooting 4 over gross. Downside is that I should probably retire my ball, played it for the last 8 rounds but starting to look pretty scuffed.
You are doing well if you played Ladybank with the same ball for 8 rounds, I don't think I've ever managed 8 holes🤣

Mixed bag for 37 points today in a stiff breeze.

Driving was very iffy again but by the end I just stopped trying to steer it and just swung the bugger. Seemed to do the trick!

Left about 6 shots out there with silly three putts and poor drives at the start but really happy with my irons and wedges given the wind.

I broke 100 for the first time!

(Pop an asterisk next to it as there are 3 or 4 winter tees)

Fairways were lovely to play off, so much drier. Greens were brilliant compared to just a week ago.
Always good to break a milestone, next up for you, 90, 80 then 70.

Played a solo round in the early afternoon. From holes 6 to 11 scored five pars and a birdie, my first run of six holes all at par or better. Left my 20ft par putt on 12 three inches short. Hope that I’m still playing as well when the qualifiers start in aApril.

Hopefully. Left so many shots out there, especially on the front nine. Started concentrating more when I realised there was a chance I could actually do it, I figured that it was gone after 9 holes. Let's go!

This past week has been a game of up and downs

Tuesday - Didn't know how to hit a ball shot 96
Thursday - Back to my usual self and shot 80
Saturday - Semi Final Knockout - Had to give 9 shots. One down going to 18. Win the hole and playoff it is. Hit my driving iron 230 down right side of fairway. Opponent steps up with driver, Hooks into the trees, Reloads and skys it high left out of bounds. Forfeits hole there and then I have to walk up on my own to fetch my ball
Sunday - Forgot how to play shot 93

Golf is a funny old game

Steady 76 gross, bit of a mixed bag really but happy at this stage of the year.

New clubs are going well and getting the distances dialed in nicely. New 4 hybrid is brilliant, why oh why didn't I get one years ago, makes a 200 yard shot so much easier than flogging a long iron 😀

Not a bad day, hit it pretty well , especially off the tee, no fairways missed. Putting absolute garbage, stuck in on the front edge of the 3rd 5th and 8th greens and only walked off with pars.
In the scheme of things 3 over isn't that bad, but in reality I should have been well under par.

Played a friendly game this morning and the 2nd outing with the new (2nd hand) Stealth irons with regular 6 s graphite shafts. If they are going to perform like they have so far they are a definite keeper. The 7 iron was like a magic wand and I started bogey, par par par par par, it tailed off a bit after that but still they were pretty awesome. The move to graphite may just be the best thing now I'm 70 and finding my stiff shafted P790's a little heavier these days .

Played the first Leeds Alliance B/Ball today on the UK's driest course (I kid you not!!) ... Ferry Bridge 9-holer. A useful 21pts on the front 9 & an even better 24pts on the back got us top spot on count-back.
I think the extra 40 to 50yds of running you get there, helped us enormously. The 7 h/capper with us hit one 300yds..... built on Magnesium Limestone, this is one remarkable place to play golf in the north in February.
