I played at West Surrey (yesterday) with a European/Asian Tour pro.

He literally shot -6 like it was the easiest thing in the world, and was absolutely miles clear of the best golfers I had played with previously (+3 amateurs), like not even comparable to be honest.

Most noticeable difference between him and anyone else I played with was his willingness to hit driver absolutely everywhere, regardless of possible danger.

Looks quality that @Zig , I love the work they have done with opening the course back up, I am looking forward to my visit this year.

A stunning day up in the North West (England) so with the missus still waiting to give birth I managed to persuade her to use the long walk excuse to accompany me for a few holes.

Definitely getting to the point where I need to have a warm up before playing. Topped 2 off the tee on the first before really getting into the swing of things.

Wedge play is looking decent, managed to hit the pin twice! And played 16, 17 and 18 in level which is rare given 16 and 18 are the hardest holes on the course.

Only played 6 and a half holes (1-4, then played the approach down 6, followed by 16-18) but it was a glorious way to spend an hour.

Still no sign of junior though.

We've got really lucky with an amazing greenskeeper, and a bit of a proactive committee who are backing him 100%. It's good... long may it continue!!

As for opening up... I've seen you've got Woodhall Spa in your bio.... now there's somewhere which got immeasurably better when it was opened up! Need to get back there.... the changes were only freshly done when I last played it, and much was GUR. Loved the par 3 course in the trees too!

Played in the early morning sunshine and it was gorgeous. Posted a couple of pics on the photos thread for those visiting Seaton Carew at Easter for the open comp.

Enjoy! View attachment 46616
Whats the Easter Open Comp @Zig ? As far as I can see the first is the Seniors Salver in May..... I'm in it.
The course changes in a very short time are absolutely immense.
Seaton has moved to a completely new level in no time at all. I'm happy to be there several times this year after having been a Country Member for several years before prices climbed.

I have no idea to be honest. I just saw Seaton on a thread in the 'Arrange a Game' section https://forums.golfmonthly.com/threads/seaton-carew-early-april-4bbb-pp-wanted.113840/ and couldn't help out with someone who needed a PP.

Appreciate your comments about the course - you'll know it as well as anyone. Should be how they want it (in the short term) by Spring 24 - probably a good time to judge then!

A frustrating day......didn't play badly, couldn't score....
A series of dodgy bounces and lies midway through the front 9 to midway through the back 9 killed my card and in the end I think I did OK to get 31 points
Index up 0.1:rolleyes:
Must do better

A decent morning, stiff northerly breeze. Drove the ball well and was impressed with the Honma TWX I used this morning, seemed to run out a lot more than the mizuno ball I use in winter. Only 1 birdie, but could have easily had quite a few more. Course in excellent condition greens running nicely. Only real disappointment was the number of pitch marks, I'm not sure how many that were out in front of us had even bothered to do any repairs.

The usual Friday swindle. 15 points going out with three 3 putts. 3 under on the back nine for 23 points which only got me a share of the pot for the back nine holes.

Had a bit of a downer the last few weeks, so I decided it would be beneficial to take a step back from golf for a week, so I took a week off playing or even touching my clubs,
went out on my own yesterday and found it hard to enjoy the round, even though I shot my lowest score 75 and my driving has vastly improved (79% FIR) and managed to get in 18 before it got dark (aparently I took 8 minutes per hole)

Went out again today on a wim, and again scored 75, found it more enjoyable, driving was even better (93% FIR), putting was completely locked in - so after that; I kinda got my golfing spark back - when I got home I realised my putter headcover had come off on the walk home  so a mild nusance to a good evening on the course. (bought a ping paradiso mallet cover, for a replacement, but idk if it'll fit my odyssey ten)

going to take another week off next week, due to work hours, but by the looks of it a break does me well. :sneaky:
