Broke 80 on the heath, despite having the most amazing mud ball shot. Huge clump on right hand side of ball. Creamed a 3 wood out of semi rough which started off straight at green and then went left like a boomerang. Must have gone 50 yards left before it smashed into the trees. Never seen anything like it in all years been playing.
Fragger tries that excuse every time....off the tee as well..

Swindle yesterday and hit 14 of the 18 greens in regulation. Not a single putt holed for birdie. 😢 only got up and down once so ended with a 73 for 37 points. No 3 putts but I ought to have been a couple under rather than 3 over par. 35 putts.

Only my second round for 7 weeks this morning in the pro shop winter Saturday stableford. Still on a three shot penalty after winning one of these at the beginning of December. Not a great start with 5 points after 4 holes. After that started to strike the irons really well and putted very well too. Parred 9 holes from then on and finished with 39pts.

Much encouragement from that round, especially as poor chipping cost me a few shots.

Having gone out for a couple of beers last night I was expecting a mild hangover, but woke up with a stinking cold instead. Being knackered and feeling like death resulted in some poor golf today. A lot of lazy, unfinished swings, big slices, poor strikes, you name it. Had a couple of good pars on some of the tougher holes, but overall chopped it round in 86 for 17 holes = 26 points. Bunker play was atrocious, I've just gone completely clueless in them at the moment. The longer we were out there the wind got stronger and it was just carnage in the end. Write this one off and move on I guess.

Played the Nairn Dunbar comp this morning. Chilly start, but warmed up on the back 9, big plus was next to no wind. Hit it ok of the tee, but greens were slow and I bit of dew on them. 1 under on the front, 2 under the back for a gross 69. If I'm hyper critical the dropped shot on the 10th was a bit of a disappointment.

77 +6 - not played for 2 weeks hit it everywhere and scrambled well, then back side hit it solid missed 3 greens from 120 in #Muppet - main thing FOUND a short putting stroke (Thumbs out on a standard grip) I guess a bit like twothumbs grip idea. mind EXCELLENT after Bedworth parkrun 5k PB :)

Running pre golf is the new STANDARD for mind control

Driving good and putted well for a solid 36pts (though I did have a Lucy Lockett on one hole and a blob on another). Course recovering well from winter bashing. Remodelling on 14th looking splendid, and really looking forward to it being brought into play…planned to happen in maybe 5-6 weeks time.

Round 8 of the winter league yesterday, stableford. Played like a demon, putted very well, irons were great, stood on the 18th tee already on 39 points. Walked off the 18th green with 39 points! Grrrrr.

Our 18th is a fairly short par 4, requires a tee shot over a hedge lined road, 130-140 gets you over. Thinned the life out of it and buried it into the verge at the side of the road. All I could do was lob wedge it over as I was too close. Hit a 9 iron 10 yards right of the green, decent chip on, missed the putt. And it’s the only hole I don’t get a shot on so nil points for me.

Still, it was a lovely day, the course was nice and firm due to barely any rain for 3 weeks now. Came 4th in my division.

But I’m still thinking about that tee shot on the 18th!

After a very poor start to the year it all came together yesterday. Squeezed on a late tee time and played the 18th in the dark but we got around.

Gross +6 40 points with 3 3 putts *sigh* despite this I still only had 30 putts total. Driver and irons a bit better, 100 yards and in was ok but I reckon it was somewhere between 100 and 110 feet worth of putts. Felt good!

7am tee off and a cheeky +4 72 and 43 points.

3 birdies, 10 pars

2 of the birdies were inches away from being eagles.

3 or 4 poor chips didn't help but fingers crossed the old HI will take another trim

Went to the driving range in St Andrew’s with the boy this morning. Then played 9 at Ladybank this afternoon in a hefty breeze, and for some reason the tees were all off the tips. Couple of dodgy drives for the first two holes but picked up from 3, shooting 4 over gross. Downside is that I should probably retire my ball, played it for the last 8 rounds but starting to look pretty scuffed.
