Nice shooting Tex

Genuine question, can a comp which limits the clubs you use be qualifying?
I was going to say no, as conditions wouldn't be the same for very player. But the condition would be identical, just not the 3 clubs each player can use.
That said, I imagine the differential would have been a tiny number, given some of the scores! 🤣

We won our 2 person 4BBB qualifier on Saturday. Yellow tees, 85% handicap as placing throughout the course.

Myself and my partner finished on 45 points - helped by my partner having 5 birdies on the back 9 - playing off of 9.

Was a sensational finish to the round.

Smashing return to old club. Got myself in on the Sunday am knock with old mates and had a wonderful time meeting everyone again and the old banter was still there. I'd been docked four shots to compensate for the fact I'd missed all the winter games, which I didn't care about, I was there for the joy of being there. I had a steady front nine, then something went bonkers wrong on the tough back nine. I played like a God. Two birdies, should have been three. Nothing worse than a bogie. 23 points playing off 11. I won the back nine and got second place overall. Only missed out on collecting the twos money as someone got a hole in one.
It's great to be back!!!!!

Another day, another rise in the Index...
My ball kicked into so many bunkers and putts bobbled - genuinely can't think of a slice of good luck today....
The swing is on it's late winter break to Ibiza again
Normal service will resume when it gets back in a couple of weeks.....

Could post this under a number of threads with a variety of flavours, but this is the right one.

Played Winter singles match and lost 4-3. Was playing off forward tees and giving my 19 PH opponent 10 shots - was always going to be tough. At turn I was 2 over gross and 3 down. So be it. He was playing really well. On 10 he holded an outrageous chip and I 3 putted (drats) for a half. Lost on 15. He’d dropped 8 at that point. Walking off 18 I had dropped 6 or 7 so under PH and not too disappointed. Nothing that much I could have done to change things - though the 10th was crucial and I maybe could have got back at him if it had gone different.

Couple or three observations.

We haven’t had a qualifying 18 holes since October and he’s been clocking up 40-42+ Stableford points quite regularly, but of course no adjustment to his handicap has been made (or has even been possible?)

Yesterday in a 2 from 3 stableford his team won with 98 points, and he scored 45.

His lowest handicap was 10 a few years ago, but it was drifting up and under WHS it has leapt up, and he’s not yet been able to get it back down. He is very keen to get it back to about 13 as that is where he thinks he is regularly playing these days.

I shrug and am ok as though I was confident I could win, I always knew it was going to be tough. I did not let myself down.

Played Aldeburgh a couple of weeks ago. Played the River course, had a slope rating of 88:ROFLMAO: nice good 9 holes warm up, hit and go stuff. Relaxing.

Nice clubhouse visit/food and then back out onto the 2 ball main course for the main event. Liked the course, reminds me of the likes of Ganton but not as good, the course pushes you all the way round if you want to score well.

Great welcome from the pro shop, price not bad, lovely day out. Hopefully go back when in the area again. Well worth playing.

Me & partner v Captain & Pro today in 4BBB. Managed a 3&1 win which will annoy the Pro a bit more. Best bit was that it was the first truly decent golf I've played since Christmas. Some good shots, a few magnificent shots, and more to the point, not many bad shots. Generally pleased. Shame I'm going on holiday for three weeks.

Played the Brabazon on monday, struggled with driver most the day, and with four holes playing off the blues (we were playing yellows so huge difference), it killed my round. The par 3 12th was playing from the blues, pin right at the back, so playing about 260 yards as into a strong wind. Enjoyed it though, as out with a decent bunch of lads and wasn't held up at all.

Well, it seems the Swing flew in overnight on the red-eye as it was waiting for me on then1st tee at 7.20 this morning...
3 and a bit hours later and im signing for a gross 75 (+4)..
2 birdies, 6 bogeys and 10 pars.
Only slightly off piste a couple of times but recovered without drama...
A good solid round, which, after the dross of the last 3 or 4 rounds, is most encouraging.
Index down to 5..
