Medal today and the first time the Whites have been out since November so a bit of a baptism of fire...
Played the front 9 very solidly and was 2 over after 9 including a 2 foot tap in birdie on the 8th for a 2...
We'd been behind a 3 ball most of the way around but we didn't really have to wait that long..
On the 10th a pair had just teed off behind the group in front....and the pace slowed to a crawl.
Struggled to keep the tempo going and was 6 over on the back without really doing much wrong...
Nett 73, 6 shots off the pace so not a disaster...at least I kept a doublemoff the card and it looks like a 0.1 cut to boot...
Fragger, on the other hand, racked up some BIG numbers whilst chucking in a couple of pars...

Net 77 though just think what it could have been.

I used to live next to Dewsbury District GC in the old reform school before it was turned into a care home. I was never a member there but played it loads although not for a few years. Some tough holes.

There are some tough holes, really enjoyed it to be honest, I know the youth will enjoy his golf there way more than at Willow Valley - where you have to play well to score anything mediocre, and play the golf of your life to shoot a low score.

Shame I can't justify 2 memberships as I'd love to have the option to play Dewsbury pretty regularly as well.

Roll up was won with 34 points - 30 took second!

Broke 100 again with a new PB!

Previous was 99 (two weeks ago), then last week playing with a mate I had an absolute mare and shot (I think) 117, then this week on my own I shot a 98. He's never going to believe me! I might have to drop him as a playing partner as I always play worse when he's there... XD

Went down to Top Golf with wife and baby yesterday afternoon. They didn't have any baby-sized clubs unfortunately so she couldn't play. But my wife decided she was ready to give it a go, 5 weeks after the C-section. She mostly just hit pitching wedge, some good some bad, but most importantly she didn't feel any pain at all. I took PW, 7 iron and 7 wood and mostly hit it well, although the 7w was slicing a little too much for my liking. In Saturday's round the woods were the only clubs I hit poorly, so that's the spinning plate that's most recently fallen off anyway.

I don't think it would be fair to comment on his level of skill when I'm perfectly capable of scoring terribly on my own, but I totally agree with you. When I've caught and joined up with people I don't know, I typically play better.

This weekend we won both our county scratch matches and it seems it’s put us top of the table with just one game to go

We have our last match coming up against a team that have told everyone they will walk the match because they are full of the county players

We have never won any of the scratch leagues - going to be a heck of last match

I have found that that never works as invariably you also trick-up the course for the home players.

I played 6 holes at lunchtime and for the first three I could hardly get the ball off the ground, and for the second three I couldn't hit the ball straight. If I could combine them I'd be dangerous! Unfortunately I'm more likely to combine them into shots that go flat along the ground in the wrong direction.

Yeah it’s at home but don’t see the need to have any fun with the course

Just play it and see what happens , it’s going to be a tough battle , they are used to a long wide open course , not a small tight testing one.

15 points coming back for 37 points
Handicap went from 2.5 to 2.8
Could have been a handicap cut unfortunately just didn’t finish the job.

Got out for 9 last night in a spare couple of hours I had.

After striping my first tee shot straight down the middle I thought I was on to a goodun.

Then was dispelled immediately as I sliced my second into the long rough to the right of the green.

The rest of the nine was similar. Absolute laser drives followed by complete garbage in every other facet of the game.
