I played today and..(Rolling) -originally created by JohnnyDee

Enjoyable round in the cooler weather today with 2 good pals.
They both played pretty well.
My driving has improved since putting a 120g regular steel shaft on my G400 Max. Putting was decent with my old 2-ball with newly lengthened shaft. Hybrid play was tolerable. Can't hit an iron at the moment if my life depended on it though. Thankfully it doesn't.

Funnily enough, that was what the playing partner referred to and it isn't - or is it?

Path is to side of a ditch, which is natural. At the end of the path is a block paved square and it sat on the edge of that and solid dirt next to it - it's a path. 99% of the world would say it is a path. The ball sat on the path. My stance was on the path.

Not a chance I was hitting the right club, an iron, not ruining by black irons, so took a hybrid and was a poor result.

No going back now, but will not back down as easily again.

I believe that if the path is not artificially surfaced then you need local rule F17 in place to get free relief

Just a knock with a mate off our back tees - both putting cards in for handicap - as we felt like it.

I had a careless from nine of 6 over par, missing a handful of short putts just as I did last time out - but much better back nine as I twigged what I think I was doing with short putts and tried a simple fix that worked - for a 2 over back nine. So off PH of 9, another cut in my HI coming my way given the one I am losing. 6.7 is my lowest ever HI back in May 2024 - with me up to 10.9 Sept 2021...think I might be cut to 6.8 for tomorrow's comp and H4H Monday.

No, it was a man made paved path and partner consulted the card (member 10 plus years).

Others disagreed, but after the fact.

Was an awful lie, but daft thing is, the relief point would not have been spectacular either. Need to hit it straighter 😁

Hoebridge today, not a massive fan but the only chance I’ll get to play for a couple of weeks.

1-3 - level
4-8 - +13 🤬
9-11 - -2
12-18 - +5

Out in 49, back in 39 🤣 no idea what happened between the 3rd green and the 4th tee, but I did manage to recover from 9 onwards, bar one bad tee shot on 14 which cost me a double, putting wasn’t great again and cost me a few shots.

Battle of Britain Trophy day today. Don't often play Sundays, but a beautiful day and course tee to green is in cracking condition. Had to play. 33 pts stableford with three stupid, stupid blobs (are there ever clever blobs?) and three missed 3ftrs on top of that - just for fun (gotta sort out my putting).

Nevertheless very enjoyable...and a likely further HI cut I think (only 0.1 though) will be coming my way JIT for H4H tomorrow. (y)

Todays Golf...

Front Nine: Birdie, Birdie, Birdie, Bogey, Bogey, Birdie, Par, Bogey, Double Bogey

Back Nine: Par, Par, Par, Par, Bogey, Par, Par, Par, Treble Bogey

10/13 Fairways hit
10 GIR's
32 putts
1.6 putts/GIR

Gross 75 (5 over)...40 stableford points.

Won 14 skins and halved the 4BBB match on the side

Absolute bobbins today.

Actually felt like I’d swung the club ok, but any bad shots were punished way more than you’d expect in a normal round.

33 putts, 7 over my handicap.

Not had a good year at all - and I’m starting to question whether I should join a course that might give me a little more enjoyment when my game is off, as ours is brutal.

Had a chipping lesson first thing this morning. Chipping is the only thing that's been poor for me lately, so it was good to get a bit of clarity on technique and club choice.

In the afternoon I drove down to Bramley GC in Guildford to meet a few guys from the forum ahead of H4H tomorrow - seven of us in all. Nice quirky little course with a few hills. Had a very enjoyable round with @Bdill93 @sjw & @Beezerk . Had a cracking front nine apart from a double on the 200-yard par 3. Lost it for a couple of holes on the back nine, including blobbing the par 5 15th (which was a stupid hole if I'm honest 😆) but made up for it with a nice birdie 2 on the 17th. Ended up taking the money for best 18 hole score with 36 points (81 gross). And it will be another counting score on my record so another small cut incoming. All followed up with a fantastic curry in the evening. Great day and looking forward to tomorrow.

H4H day at Blackmoor. Enjoyable round on a lovely course with @Bdill93 @Paperboy and PJ87 - although it tried to rain a bit in the first nine annoyingly. Knew I was well overdue a poor round and typically it came today. I just couldn't get driver working at all which made things difficult on a heather-lined course. Scrambled my way to 87 for 31 points in the end. Two blobs on the 18th and the 6th (having started from the 10th). So my title defence was a bit of a limp whisper really. 😆

Another cracking day though, big thanks to Richart and the gang. ❤️

Yep, great couple of days with @Orikoru @Bdill93 @Kraxx68 @Beezerk @DeanoMK. Good laughs and some ok golf.

I shot 30 points at both Bramley and Blackmoor, which while not great was my minimum target I set for courses that I hadn't played before. The holes I scored on were pretty good (including a big bird on Blackmoor's 13th 🦅) but I had a few blobs that let me down, normally just from unknowingly putting myself in some trouble eg short sided or running through into some rubbish

Cheers all for a great day and well done @richart and all for putting on a great event

Weekday medal today.
Greens still in recovery mode after last week's maintenance work. Had 2 long range three-putts from just off the green each time.

Had a 5.3 dropping off, equal 8th best, and replaced that with a 4.5 for a 0.1 cut to 4.2 (given no PCC)
Got a 2.

EDIT: In a 4-way tie for fist place with a net level par!
Placed 3rd, but will get second place prize as 2nd will get lowest gross.
Together with the 2 on the 202-yard 16th it has turned into a bit more of a Kerching than I expected.

Well, what can I say.
15pts out, 23pts in andat least 6 putts left 4" short, I just couldn't get the pace.
But, for the 1st time ever, I went birdie, eagle!
I went 4, 3, 3, 4 with the 4s on par 3s and the 3s on a par 4 and par 5!
The ball is running a long way but the bounces can be just ridiculous.
But hey, 38pts off the tips will do me.

First Round of the Seniors Midweek Championships today.

Gross 82, Nett 73 to leave me in 15th place ahead of next weeks 2nd (and last) round. Havent got a hope of Its going to take some winning as the current leader is a 19 handicapper who shot gross 81.

I walked off thinking my driving had been awful and, whilst I hit a lot of ropey shots, on reflection, I actually managed 10/13 fairways...though on 2 of them I was far enough back to make hitting the green impossible. A couple of poor approach shots on 14 and 15 didn't help the scoring and neither did a shank on the 18th. Needs to be a PCC adjustment if there is to be any movement in handicap...and even then it will only go down by 0.1.

Disappointing after my good play on Friday and Sunday, but if I'm at the stage of 81/82 now being a bad round (rather than "normal") then decent cuts will surely be forthcoming. Got 4 more qualifiers before I disappear on holiday in mid September and then 5 more in October which should still be reasonably decent weather...I'd like to be down below 8 by then, hopefully setting me up for a good winter of practice, and an assault on low/mid single figures next year.

Then again, with a total of 18 qualifiers left available to me this year....I could virtually erase my current record and who knows what I might be!!!

19 points front nine with a blob and 20 points back nine. To win overall. I was A machine.

I played with 3 others, one went after nine holes. He made me laugh when he missed a short putt and shouted “ Eff in Rammel”

The other 2 players played the fuddle final KO.It was fantastic to see the standard of golf from them two.All square after 18 and won on first extra hole.

Out with the 2 Grandads this morning....a bit of drizzle welcomed us!
A very steady 18 holes comprising 10 pars, 7 bogeys and a birdie for a gross 77(+6) and 37 points.
0.5 cut back to 5 unless PCC has a say.....
Smashed the Old Boys out of the park.....

After no golf for 4 weeks (3 weeks of that due to my ribs), I've played 3 times in 3 days.

Sunday at Bramley, I was on 17 points after 9 and seemingly playing well, the back 9 just went awry and despite not playing that badly, I got 6 points including blobbing the last 4 holes. Ribs felt okay, a few little twinges but nothing alarming, thankfully.

Monday at Blackmoor, I started bogey, bogey, birdie, par and finished the 9 with 15 points, definitely left a few out there. Onto the back 9 (playing the front 9), I started par, par, blob! Finished with 16 points for 31 total, which I was very pleased with.

Squeeed in 18 after work last night and made two really nice birdies, made two doubles and a triple with the rest a mix of pars and bogeys for an 11 over par 82, 31 points once again. Nice to be back playing but I'm away from Friday down in Torquay so another forced week off golf.
