I played today and..(Rolling) -originally created by JohnnyDee

Nine holes with the usual crowd this evening. Course running really hard and fast but the greens are really receptive after recent maintenance. All helped me to a tidy couple over par.

We had a medal today, what a mixed bag, started with double, followed by two pars and a bogey then had a disastrous triple on 5 when I drove into a PA, another couple of bogeys then another triple where I took on a shot I shouldn't have and found another PA. Then lo and behold, played the next 8 holes in one over, before finishing with two more doubles.
In total, I had 1 birdie, 7 pars, 5 bogies, 3 double bogies and 2 triple bogies, I think my problem is consistency, although on the bright side my putting wasn't too bad.

Playing in a singles open tomorrow, and will be losing the best score of my last 20, I am in danger of getting a full shot back!

I was expecting greatness after Tuesday's round.
Oops.
On Tuesday I shot birdie, eagle on the 11th and 12th for 9 points.
Today I went blob, blob for NUFFINK!
Had a great laugh on 16th, however, as my mate putted off the green ...................... TWICE!
That, ladies and gentlemen, was absolutely priceless.

A society day at Knighton Heath today. For those that don’t know, it is a heathland course just outside Bournemouth. Fairways were baked absolutely rock hard with some amazing run on the ball. If it doesn’t rain soon then I fear that some courses could struggle with losing a lot of their fairways.

Played in a rollup yesterday. Really swung nicely for 9 holes and then I know what is going to happen....because I do the same thing every time. I'm hitting the ball so well with no effort....think what you could do if you try harder. I was playing wonderfully.....why screw it up?...yet I keep doing it. I need a psychiatrist.

Took the retro bats out last night for a walk and waffle with a mate. 28pts off the whites with a set of 1991 woods and irons was pretty enjoyable. Just got to get these random shanks out of the bag.

Played Richmond (Yorks) GC on Wednesday. They had a QR code on the scorecard that links to the local rules. They also have a rule banning the use of phones on the course... 🤷‍♂️
What did you think of it? It's a while since I've played there but my memory is that I liked it. Is the 18th still a blind par 3 over a hedge / trees? Bonkers finish but fun.

It's lovely but the greens were like rollercoasters, so it beat us up a bit. You get a glimpse of the 18th green from the tee, so maybe they've cut the trees back a bit.

Played during the week at my home course Glenbervie, for being as late as it is in the season it’s probably up there with the best I’ve seen it, maybe a little biased but although it does get a good name locally, I think if it was roundabout any the golf coasts in Scotland, fife, Ayrshire or east coast/edinburgh it would be a huge name course wise.
An absolute gem and a credit to the greenkeepers doing the work

So yesterday I played in the Briggs trophy at Mere, one of the rare ladies singles opens round.

What can I say, if it could go wrong it did go wrong,, After starting wit ha good up and down for a par on the first, I failed to get out of a bunker first time on the 2nd, so had a double bogey, worst was to come, on the 3rd I hit a lovely chip over a bunker to about 3 feet only to be told, "you played my ball" This is the 4th or 5th time i have done this, I never learn, I ended up with a quad bogey as the chip with my own ball was poor and I then 3 putted. it got worse.. on to the 4th and a long par just missed and finish about 2 feet away and I took another 3 from there.

What a disaster, there was no coming back from that start and I had a very mediocre score and as expected my HI rose from 13.6 to 14.5 as my best score dropped off.

Joined the roll-up this time - got the short straw and ended up in the group with the 42 handicapper. 😂 I also managed to create a frosty atmosphere when they wanted to tee off the 5th before finishing the 4th (to save a walk back up to the tee) and I refused since I was putting a card in. Oh well. 🤷🏻

My great run of form has definitely ended too. Struggled today while having an off day and only getting 10 shots! Poor driving and poor putting on the front nine made it hard to score. Three-putted 1st, blobbed 2nd thanks to a bunker, double bogey on 7th as well with an awful three-putt from only about 12 feet. Finished front nine with 15 points, then promptly blobbed 10th by topping tee shot in a ditch, and doubled 11. Got it together after that, parring 12, 13 & 17 with bogeys on the others to scrape 30 points with my gross 84.

I guess 84 isn't terrible, I just need to get used to having less shots now and accepting that an 'ok' round is likely to be only 30 points instead of 33.

Monthly stableford. 38 points and I left a stack out there, too, with three 3-putts, a missed 3-footer on 9 and a reload on 16.

Should be pleased, but I’m frustrated that instead of looking at a healthy reduction I’m just treading water handicap wise as a low counter is dropping off.
