I recently posted on the wanted thread, (wanted low trajectory/spin shaft), and received several recommendations including one of the original grafalloy blue, (not to be confused with the popular prolaunch blue).

Anyway after searching high and low for a bargain prolaunch red which was recommended by Ethan, I came across a regular original Grafalloy Blue on Amazon for £19.99 including delivery.

I read the reviews and the general concensus was that it was a strong mid to high kick low torque, (2.8), mid trajectory shaft that would offer a boring penetrating flight - Just the job.

I had read some comments where some people had fitted a stiff version and regretted it as the shaft plays very stiff to rating.

On arrival I examined the shaft testing it against the floor as you do and my oh my, it is some shaft.

I'm right in between regular and stiff however this beast is as stiff as if not possibly stiffer than the Stiff Voodoo I had fitted in my Nike Vr Pro.

I've fitted a matching Blue New Decade grip and a Razr fit adapter this afternoon and the shaft is now basking in the conservatory begging me to take it out in the morning to see if I'm man enough for it:whistle:

I glued the shaft into the adaptor at 13-30, it's very warm in the conservatory and later the tumble drier will be on to maintain the heat and speed up the curing process.

Tee off time is 07-30 will the shaft be cured sufficiently enough to use or should I leave it to Sunday and let it torment me for an additional 24 hrs?

What adhesive did you use? For the most part shafts only take a few hrs to cure but the instructions should give a clue...

Hey what about some pics!!!!

Congrats on the new shiny!

Nice One Dave B , u made a good choice, still a real good shaft, apparently being re-released, the New Blue, but Ive heard its White........................Ha

Like I said in another thread, Ive got a Blue waiting to be fitted in a T-Made adaptor, to give it a bash in my RBZ Tour driver

As for the glue being dry, the gear my mate uses dries in less than an hour, but some do take 24 hours, just have another read of the instructions
Be sure to let us know u get on in your 1st round with it, and if its an improvement on your previous shaft

Alex I used Evostick control epoxy which is a 24 hr cure however the heat in the conservatory should reduce the curing time but I'm not sure that it will be sufficient given the time I'm playing tomorrow.

It's the same shaft as used by Quiros although he uses an extra stiff version which must be like a proverbial poker.

Hmm I like you would very much be wanting to hit it... like yesterday!! but I think I would leave it 24 hrs in this case as its something your going to put under alot of stress.

I am telling a lie, I would give it a wobble on the morning and be up the range hitting it pre round....:o

I'm not a shaft expert and have never been fitted, nearly all my clubs are from ebay including my Mizuno MP-001 3-wood, which came wth a Graffaloy Blue shaft and I have to agree, the flight when I hit it properly is a joy to behold.

It doesn't say if it's regular or stiff but there is a very small "s" beside the blue logo, would this indicate stiff?

How much did you take off the tip, or was it a pulled shaft already ? Can make quite a difference if you take off the wrong amount. Of course the problem with a pull is that your never sure how much was originally taken off.

Personally I wouldn't use anything barr Araldite on golf clubs.

The shaft is new. Scottsdale Golf were having a clearout on Amazon and at £19.99 it was a price I couldn't turn down. They also have the VS Proto by you in a stiff 65g however I believe that the Proto's may be made for shafts.

Grafalloy do not recommend tip trimming this shaft and recommend butt trimming only. I've cut two inches off so it's 45.5 ins in total which is the same as the original shaft.

Craw if it is the Blue with a s and not the grafalloy prolaunch blue it must be a beast of a shaft as the regular has a reputation for being more than a match for most stiff shaft players.

When I do get to use it I know that I'll have to commit to every shot and I have no doubts that the flight will be considerably lower than that with the Rip NV, however I won't know until I've hit it a few times if I will get more distance. one thing is for sure, it will be very interesting.

The Blue is a very solid shaft, which plays stiffer than the great majority of other decent shafts. Henrik Stenson is another Graf Blue user.

VS Proto can be 'real' or 'made for'. If I remember correctly, the 'real' ones come in weights ending in 5, and the made for in weights ending in 0.

It is a softer shaft than Blue, but still a decent shaft that plays pretty true to flex.

I left the club suspended 6 ins above a plug in, oil filled radiator last night with the temp on medium, to ensure the epoxy cured.

First hole which is a dog leg is 220 yds to the end of the trees and I was 5 yds short which wasn't a good start however I was hitting into the wind and I didn't hit it out of the middle.

2nd tee shot I pushed right trying to hit it too hard but the third tee was a solid 250 yd shot with a good trajectory.

The wind was bad all day and although the shaft has definitely improved the trajectory it's too early to tell how well it will perform in good conditions, warm temperatures and firm fairways. I also need a bit more time to adjust to the shaft as it isn't a shaft that will rewards a relaxed swing as you do have to fully commit to the shot.

It is definitely far stiffer that the regular rating and would more than hold it's own against the majority of stiff rated manufacturers shafts.

On the plus side I took a ball each off my playing partners on matchplay having won by the fifteenth, didn't have any out of bounds and didn't get out driven so to sumarise I need to spend a bit more time with the shaft to work out how to get the best from it before making a decision as to whether I keep it or revert back to the Rip NV stock shaft.

I'd like to get out tomorrow however the forecast isn't that inspiring.

Oh the evidence is compelling, md woods, near somerset, the dates etc etc... I think Dave mistakenly bought a poker and not a firm shaft like he should have :D We have had Homer gate I & II, Now DaveGate :D
