I bought today.....

With a 50% mark up, your maths is way off if you think that would be a loss.

Our pro is a good egg, but he also accepts the online model can often source cheaper stuff and has no issue with that.

Is it a “50%” mark up 🤷‍♂️

And yes online retailers will be able to sell stuff cheaper mainly because of the volume they can sell at

Clothing, absolutely, at least 50%.

I'm not comparing the two - I don't think you can. Retailers need some loyalty to maintain businesses versus online and I am a supporter, but like a lot of things in golf, they need to move with the times and accept options are out there and competing is a modern thing.

I know when I buy something new out of the pro shop, I go the long way round so as not to rub it in 🤣

The thing with a pro shop is that’s it’s more than just a shop to sell clothes - the service they give to a club can be on multiple levels but they do need to understand their members

More and more people seem to buy crested stuff these days and that’s something our pro has tapped into

I only get any clothes from a pro shop now

Think crested stuff is such a backward step. How many people want all their gear to have the club badge on. I don't mind it on a few pieces especially the stuff we wear for club matches but why everything. It is a conversation we had with our pro when he came in. He started with the same thing and all stock was crested but we have managed to persuade him to also stock non-crested items. To be honest, he doesn't hold much clothing stock, crested or not, so I either get him to order in or tend to now use places like County Golf

Agreed.

Unless it's a bucket list club, visitors are not going to buy a top with a crest on it. Also, a lot of golf gear doubles as everyday gear (it does for me anyway), I'm happy to go for a drink or whatever wearing a FJ polo, but I wouldn't wear something with a club crest on when not golfing. The only clothing item I've ever bought with a crest was when I was playing for the club team and it was mandatory.

My club subsidises the crest, so it is a way of showing support at no extra cost than the top would cost anyway.

Think im now at the stage where all my tops are crested from a top course I have played - it helps that most of them are the brands that I wear -and a couple from the home club

Our pro has his stuff flying off the shelf and does very well with the crested stuff and also the other stuff as well

You said all the clothing was branded🤷‍♂️ like Burnley why would you go out to a non golfing venue in crested clothing

That it is indeed - it’s always about judging what the situation is to what I wear

When going to volcano falls golf with the daughter then it’s full blown FJ golf shoes , shorts , a nice Peter Millar top from Woodhall and then a gillet from Swinley if it’s cold 😁

You forgot the FJ glove hanging out of your back pocket haha
