How much leave do you get (with caveats)

13 weeks off per year for me..

Just cant choose when it is, which is more annoying than you might think when you're not actually a teacher.

Was 25 days thoughout my working life - though in my last job I reached 16yrs and so had triggered an extra day.

Early days in one employment my boss spotted that I’d booked half day holiday. He asked if I was doing anything in particular. I think I might have had a dentist appointment. He told me that my holiday entitlement was for holidays, and as I worked plenty of extra hours unpaid (nature of my job) I don‘t need to book holiday for such things as dentist/doctors appointments or for picking up kids from school etc. Best boss I ever had.
Nobody has to book time off for appointments do they?? Or was this not commonplace back in the black and white years? :p

Not me not had a day off sick in 13 years... mind there a few who have been off with "stress" for months, one guy at least a year.
I had to smile at this. My first job was in the Civil Service we got 3 weeks annual leave a 4 weeks sick leave. I was called down to the personnel office and asked why I was not using any of my sick leave entitlement.

25 days as standard plus 1 for our birthday plus a Xmas shopping day and 1 charity day.

this year i got an additonal 5 for 5 years service.

we can buy upt0 5 additional days but can only sell back 3

Up until 3 years ago, I got 20 days plus Bank Holidays (the legal requirement). Christmas also had to be booked.
Now though, I take what I want but know that I will be stacked full when I return.
Christmas is taken this year, the oven and dishwasher breakdowns will have to wait until January. :)

I had an ex civil servant TUPE’d over to work for me in BAE Systems some many years ago. She started taking her entitlement of sick leave - that lasted a day before she was brought into the real world.

I used to get 25 days, than salary sacrificed for another 10 days. Now that I’m retired I don’t even get Bank Holidays off - every day is Groundhog Day.
