How many Greens in Regulation do you EXPECT to hit?

Funny but I've never given it much thought. I just play the shot as I see it. But we do have 4 holes I would struggle to reach in regulation so I will lay up. The only ones I expect to hit are the par 3's. The rest depend on the tee shot?

Anywhere between 3 and 14 - that's my best and worst of the year so far.
Averaging around 8

However, if my driving was anything approaching my handicap (5) then I'd be hitting 10 or more most of the time.

H/C of 18

I expect to hit 5 or 6 GIR

Last round I hit 5 plus 3 on the fringe. Putting wasn't great but it was pairs matchplay (against similar level players) so it was all about getting it close enough to either give my playing partner a run at the hole or get a gimme.

I aim for them all but I expect to hit none. I normally hit around 4 on an average day. It's getting to one or 2 of them that is the head frig for me and destroys my cards every time. I will beat my demons with a big stick one day.
Got Bob on the case now so will see how my mind set goes now. Great read anyway.

I currently don't have a handicap but hit in the mid to low 90's most rounds. My Swinbyswing stats say that I hit 4.5 on average.

My short game unfortunately lets me down.

I play off 6 and EXPECT to hit all of them. However, obviously I don't manage this.
I would be happy with 12 to 15 per round but haven't been playing so well of late.
My last 3 rounds, including the 1st one which finished on the 16th, were 9, 11 & 10 - so overall average about 10-12 per round.

Played 13 holes last night, hit 9 GIRS. Of the 4 holes I missed two where just off the fringe and two where in greenside bunkers. This was off the white, they are only about 10yrds back from the whites at this time of year.
My main aim recently has just been to hit GIR. My recent big chop saw me hit 16 gir only to be let down by shoddy putts.

Playing off 15 I've no idea what is expected, and I don't really think about what I should be hitting in terms of FIR / GIR. I rarely count how many I've hit and am more concerned with the number on my scorecard. Last night I shot 37 points in a roll up, and working it out just now, I think I hit 3 GIR. A lot of the greens I did miss were either intentional plays for safety, or I was just off. Got up and down a few times, and drained some good putts. Don't really see the point in setting expectations for these sorts of things. The game is hard enough as it is!!

Playing off 10 I would expect to hit at least 6 in regulation I would look to hit for more though 9 plus. Current stats show at 39% (7) so I'm actually hitting more than I expect, maybe I need to increase my expectations!

25 (ish) handicap and I can honestly say any GIR is a bonus for me. I guess on a course with a couple of shorter par 3's/300 yard par 4's I'd be disappointed if I didn't hit one one or two of them.

Not really a stat i concern myself with tbh.

Looking at my stats I seem to hit about 35-45% GIR my handicap has risen to 18 :(

My putting is really letting me down, hopefully bob has a v-easy on its way :)

Playing off 12 at the minute, I expect to hit 50% greens normally. However my ball striking with my irons has vanished and I'm currently averaging around 40%

At mine
1 par 4 - no
2 par 5 - no
3 par 4 - yes
4 par 4 - no
5 par 3 - yes
6 par 4 - yes
7 par 3 - yes
8 par 4 - no
9 par 5 - no
10 par 4 - yes
11 par 4 - no
12 par 3 - yes
13 par 5 - no
14 par 4 - yes
15 par 3 - yes
16 par 4 - no
17 par 4 - no
18 par 5 - no

That's what I did yesterday and that's about the norm for me. It's when I don't hit a green/fairway that I lose all my shots! If I hit more fairways I would expect to hit more greens. I expect to hi every par 3, at mine no par 3 is over 160 yds

Two parts to my answer.

I play off 15 at the moment and I would expect to hit 6 GIR.

However, I define that correctly as actually ON the green.

I would expect to reach 12 greens by distance, but miss them by inaccuracy.

E.g. in the past I would have expected fewer GIR because I couldn't reach them in GIR. I have always viewed GIR for club golfers as more of a measure of 'being able to reach a green in regulation' rather than actually being 'on' the green in regulation, which is why I break it down that way.

E.g. I'll typically be on 6 out of 18 greens in regulation, and I'll have reached or gone through a further 6, but will be 'around the green'.

If I bring any sort of game with me then I'm looking at 11 minimum.

Really blowey day last Saturday and it was only 8
