How many comps do you consider "healthy"?

I know opinions will vary here but I've never been one for playing loads and loads of qualifiers. It's only my 5th season as such but find medals stressful so don't actively pursue them! I admire players who put it on the line at every opportunity but have tended to play 1 or 2 a month or so. This year I think I should just get out and play every one I can without a thought for not playing if my game is a bit off or not playing as the last one was pants and stressful...

What do you guys think is a decent number to play? This month I have 5 qualifiers planned plus a number of competitive matchplay, both singles and pairs, comps lined up...

I play every comp I can. I love the challenge of trying to beat my handicap (not even a buffer yet this year) and trying to test my game when it matters. We tend to have 2-3 weekend events per month and a weekly stableford and medal per month so not a whole glut of events and plenty of time for some social golf too. Its a nice balance

As many matches as can be fit into the diary, as for qualifying comps try to keep it to no more than one, maybe two a week. Tend to enter all the board comps and the monthly weekend medal, then fit others in as and when if not played a comp for a week or two. Am trying to play a larger amount of my golf away from home this year so that will reduce the amount of comps i play too a little i expect

2 or 3 times a month during the 'proper' season.

Not a fan of playing a qualifier every week, though I think I approach both comps and bounce in the same way.

Would be nice to have the option of a comp every week from April thru October can't commit to this many and we generally average 3 out of 4 weeks with a comp not all singles a mix of singles and pairs. Add in matchplay thats a fairly active schedule. I play as many as I can to fit in with family commitments, putting the handicap on the line is by the by for me.

I try to play as many as I can, when I'm able, as work and family commitments mean I can't play every weekend, or in many Wednesday medals.

I'm on a mission to get to single figures asap, though, so there's a comp on and I can play, i'll play.

I relish Qualifiers....Especially Medals.....Whatever happens me i seem to play better in medals than in Stablefords....I enter everything that comes up with the exception of 4BBB qualifiers and Foursomes Qualifiers as my dad who i normally play with aint a fan of them and i dont really have anyone to partner me.....

But i play stablefords just like a Medal....I hate counting points...I always count strokes....

As many as I can, work/family permitting. I'm lucky being at a really friendly club because most qualifiers are relaxed affairs - no different to playing in a Saturday morning roll up.

I play as many qualifiers as I can. It sometimes hurts when I am playing matchplay team events for the club on the same day as a medal, but playing for the club will always come first.

Love playing competitive golf and lucky enough to be a member of a club that has medals or stablefords every Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday and I try to play in at least 3.Also enter any knock out comps that are on the go.

I play every one that I can and enter as many opens and other comps as possible to get some more in.

Played monthly medal on Saturday, have two qualifying rounds tomorrow and another comp on Sunday..... that's a lot of +0.1s the way I'm playing!

That's where I need to be and this season just have to make that commitment and at the end the number will only be a true reflection of my golf. Entered the County Champs which is 36 holes strokeplay then 2 days of matchplay. It's at our course so even though I'll be one of the highest handicappers it would seem daft not to. Mind you it is still a "new" course to me and I hear rumours they are letting the greens grow (v slow right now) so they can cut them and be super fast for the champs...hope they do it the day before so I can try them out!!

whats 'qualifiers' everyone's talking about? Do you mean qualifiers to enter the matchplay stages of a comp? if so there wont be 'qualifiers' every month
