are you a wanderer or a one club type?

I'm definitely a one club type. I've been at my local club since 1992, and I have no intention of leaving.

It's a 10-minute walk. I like the course, interesting and challenging with a lot of blind shots and lots of trees. The clubhouse is superb, great food, great beer, and a lively friendly atmosphere. It was presentation night last night, prizes galore, a live band and a good turn out meant an enjoyable night for playing members, social members and guests.

Joined ten years back - had a 4 or 5 year hiatus while we lived in Spain.

I know if I left to join another club I'd regret it. The course is marmite - personally I love the challenges it offers but it struggles through winter - most do around here anyway.

The big plus for me is the members - who are all pretty much sound.

Largest golf facility in Yorkshire sithi.... https://www.wvgc.co.uk/

I was a member at Aldersey Green in Cheshire from '94 as a junior through to when I moved to London in 2012 (well with a little break from age 16-19 when I discovered beer and pretty things!), 2012 joined Shooters Hill till I moved to Poland in 2018 since then I've back and forth at the two courses in the city.

I've been at my current club for 2 years, previous one for 2 years, current club for 3 years prior to that. Definitely a wanderer, not found my perfect club yet. All of the clubs around me have some positives but also some negatives. I've never been a member of a bad club but sometimes what you thought was a priority ends up being less important than something else.

I like my current club but I could be easily moved again in the right circumstances.

Coming up 6 years at the current club and as long as I can play and afford the subs I'll be staying put.
Although it has to be said that if HS2 wasn't being built through a previous club, in all likelihood I'd still be there.

Wanderer doesn't even come close.....I've been a member at 3 clubs since 2015. About to rejoin my first club after 4? years...I think. If I lived to the south part of Harrogate there are a BUNCH of nice clubs near Leeds....but too far to drive from the north part of Harrogate. I get bored. Currently a member at 2 clubs.

I've been at my club since it opened in 1981. No interest in leaving. It's lost a lot as a "club" over the past few years, but still a great place to play with our groups.

Wanderer. Joined my first club, the Staffordshire, in 2019. Covid hit, memberships cancelled. Joined south Staffs in summer 2020 because I worked nearby. Changed jobs and so re-joined the re-opened Staffordshire in 2021. That closed for good in 2022 so I joined my next club for 2 years. Left there due to price increases combined with course closures in 2024, been at my current club since then.

Now on the waiting list for Enville. I do really like my current club, bewdley pines, particularly the lads I play with every week. But, it’s a bit of a jaunt to get to, compared to Enville which is 10 mins away, plus, Enville is a far superior course, 2 of them in fact.

Been at my place since 2001. Left briefly in 2010 and was a nomad for about 4 months before "joining" Ipswich (Purdis)...at the end of my probationary membership I was offered full membership but turned it down as the missus was talking about moving house, so i rejoined my old club again. 15 years later we are still in the same house!!

I guess I’m a wanderer, was a member at my junior club from about 1993- 1999, stopped playing for a bit then rejoined there 2003-2005. Then played nomadic golf until I joined a new club 2010-2012, that closed down so went to my 3rd club 2013-2014 but hated the place it had no life and they ruined the course. Didn’t rejoin a club (my 4th) until 2017-2019 loved the course but the members were very clicky and ultimately gave up playing until this year.

Plan to join 1 of the 3 local clubs to where we live and hopefully stay there a long time.

Was a member at a club for just about 20 years, left and have been where I am now coming up for 3 years.

Far better course and practice facilities. Can’t see me ever being anywhere else now, kick myself a bit I never made the switch years ago.

Enville is very good - two very good courses

I've a glut of courses around me, currently I'm back at where I first joined a proper golf club. It's 14 miles away and about 20 mins drive. It's probably one of the toughest courses I've ever played. It's struggling for members, and can be a bit clicky. It's now broken in to loads of different groups that play together. We have a new comittee that I'm hoping are going to make things better and pull all the different groups together. I'm looking elsewhere in advance.

Joining fees play a part in keeping people at a club.

I'm taking advantage to join a second club, with no joining fee and see how it goes.

Previous, 3 years.
Current, just over 25 years. Within a mile from home. Beautifully maintained course. Major but non-disturbance course improvement plan in operation. Very competent and hands-on manager and deputy. Brilliant franchised catering and bar by husband and wife team. Sub-committees solid and well organised. Can't see any reason to change.

Probably been at my club for 10-12 years. Decent track slowly improving but not as quick as it should be. The PP/ fuddle deffo keeps me there.

I moved around with jobs, so Club changes have been driven by that.

Been at current local one for 16 years, changed at last house move. Might move to one much nearer now I'm retired as less travel for multiple games a week. Will run both concurrently next Spring to test out the other one.
