I recently moved to a house that was 13 miles from my club at the time.
For me that was too far so I moved to a new club 2 miles from my house.

I see posts of people talking about being half hour away from a place as if its really close.

So how far do you live from your club and how does it affect the amount you play/socialise there??

My club is about 3 miles away from home. But, I can't actually drive so I still have to get lifts there. Have got a cab down once or twice as it's not too expensive. It's like 10 minutes drive. It's not the sort of place I would pop down to socially if I wasn't playing golf.

Less than a mile, only just moved clubs so haven seen the benefit of it yet. But I have played more in the last couple weeks that I would normally. I have cut an hour off my golf time as I used to play 30 mins away, so the wife doesn't seem to mind if I play both days on the weekend.

2.6 miles door to door on the road, but less than 1 mile as the crow flies. Can get there in 4 and a half minutes, plenty close enough for me. Another 30 seconds would take me to Western Gailes and Dundonald as well:D

Mine is about 3 miles. Would take about 10 mins to get there.

My last club was about the same as well.

I have considered joining a club which is about a 30 min drive in good traffic but I like to play after work so it just wouldn't be worth it for me.

I have loads of clubs around me, probz about 5/6 within 15 min drive. I wouldn't see the point in joining one further away than that, unless it was absolutely unreal but even at that, I love being able to pop round for a quick 9.
The club I have moved to is probably the best in the area as well.

Nairn is 18 miles door to door and takes 20/30 most of the time. Closer courses, in fact one course in Inverness is so close i could almost hit a drive onto the courses but not a patch on Nairn.

Was also a member at Tain Last year were i have been a member on and off since 2006 thats 45 miles and play there once a week at least in summer.

I don't tend to socialise outside of golf there though i do a fair bit after golf. i take the dogs to the beach in the summer quite often and we have had meals there from time to time

48 miles from my main place, which equates to a 45 min drive there and usually just under an hour home. So not too bad, especially for the quality of both the courses.
About 50 feet from the other course that i'm a member of that i use in the summer evenings for a bit of practice after work when i get the chance.

13 miles or 23 minutes...
Last club was 4 miles and 14 minutes...
Being at the Zoo does make it a bit impractical going there unless I'm playing.
Being at Aylesbury Park was very convenient for just popping in and playing 9 or using the short course.
But circumstances dictated a move and the Zoo was the best of the bunch..

I'm about 8 miles away but it is only 12 minutes door to door as it is a very straightforward journey along a straight A road. I have 4 courses all with the same time distance although some are geographically closer, one is 2 miles away but on the other side of the town where I live, so I can take my pick.

I had a spell of being 30 minutes from my club but that did not work so I moved clubs. I often pop out for 9 holes in the evening after work and 30 mins each work really doesn't help with that. I don't use my club socially so distance is irrelevant outside of playing golf, although I do socialise there after a round I hasten to add.

Distance does matter in my experience.

Moved house about 3 months ago so now it’s 35 to 40 minutes away. Toyed with the idea of moving clubs but the thought of not knowing anyone at a new club put me off.
