played in the work society on Friday and had a complete mare on the front nine , now im known as temperamental but i swear i was in control of my emotions ,just not of my golf ball  came last , now i cant get this round out of my head its proper beating me up :D

Only thing to do is pick the positives! Don't ignore the bad shots if they were bad decisions and learn from them, not much else you can do really. It's in the past just have to move on! I'm having a bad run at the moment it's all I can do, otherwise I'd chuck all my gear in the skip on the way home!

Played in a great fourball on Friday and Saturday. If there was a Tourettes Team Event we'd be scratch champs. Even Hawkeye was getting in on the act especially after shanking OB on the 2nd yesterday. I've had more than enough bad rounds recently to know that you've got to stay positive. I know the work I've done over the winter means the swing is better than it was and the short game is improving. Once both click I'll be putting some good scores together again. Sometimes you need a few backward steps to appreciate the good rounds even more.

A pal of mine always says enjoy the good rounds, as we have so few of them :) When I play poorly, which I tend to do a lot of the time these days, I just go out and practice the things that I did badly. Its just a game, if you have a bad round, or even 10 bad rounds in a row, get over it, and enjoy the good shots and that we are able to play this great game.

what's that old saying?

"A bad day on the golf course is still better than a good day in the office"

Very true, there's always next time.

After an absolute shocker on Friday, i'm getting out for a round this afternoon before the medal this coming Friday.

One shot at a time, concentration and focus. That's all it's about.

Go and play a course that you enjoy playing, and usually play well...

I had a mare at Woodhall Spa last week-end. Really cheesed me off because I had been looking forward to it for 8 months or so and was really up for a game.
Played like a prat, and was really in the doldrums.
Went out and played at East Brighton yesterday with three mates who's company I enjoy and it's a course I like and feel relaxed on.
Hit the ball really well, especially my irons (which were sadly lacking last weekend) scored 36 points despite some missed short putts and now feel a lot happier.

I know its hard to forget about these bad rounsd but for me its a case of getting right back out there and playing again. You quickly forget things when you've got another round to play.

Played tuesday shot 75 , wed shot 74 , sat medal shot 84

Went back out yesterday and shot 71 , I just didnt think about the day befores effort because that is not my normal game. You must do the same. The more you analyse it and let it get to you then the more it will get to you if that makes sense.

Even the very worst of bad rounds has within it some great shots that you played. Focus on those and bear in mind that one blip round does not a bad golfer make!

Just like when you play a good round you think of the shots you left out there, reverse this for a poor round and think of what did work well so you know it's still in there.

The other way to look at it is this:

Sometimes you will swing easy, strike well and not score.
Sometimes the swing will be inconsistent, the strikes poor but you will somehow get a great score.

Golf sometimes makes no sense at all! :D

Well, that didn't quite go to plan out all.

After the first tee shot of the round finds out of bounds, it's hard to keep your head up - something i've definitely got to work on and develop, a bit of mental strength.

One horrendous round too many for me though - leaving my clubs alone for a couple of weeks, missing the next monthly medal and next weeks special comp and i'm going to do something else for the weekends.

A couple of weeks break will do me good I think.

Fuming.

Lost a ball at the 1st today. Great contact but a straight push right. Lost another (poor shot) at the 3rd into the hazard and another at the 7th when my second hit a tree and ricocheted somewhere and no-one saw where. After that I thought so it and played good golf one under my handicap. It was only a friendly 4 ball but I did enough to halve the match down the last so I have forgotten the bad ones and pleased with my last 11 holes. Looking forward to a few holes midweek after work now

I get over a bad round with a cup of tee and a large handful of chocolate hob-nobs....oddly enough that is also how I celebrate a good round too.
