100 yards is about a 3 quater sand wedge for me
So usually im in with a chance at birdie, but 9/10 i come away with a par

Yes and no. But recalling everytime I've got closer or further away is impossible. Thats the reason I said the stats mean nothing to us, only due to the fact they are so accurate.
I posted that link because I wanted to show that even the professionals do well to get inside ten feet. I was merely pointing out that we, as amateurs, shouldn't beat ourselves up for hitting the green 40 feet from the pin.
This thread and that stat have made me feel so much better. So thank you SB. I'll no longer be beating myself up from 100 yards out
This came up when I had a lesson. I said that I wasn't making enough birdies, or recovering with U&Ds often enough as I wasn't getting close enough to allow my poor putting to stand a chance.
The pro then quoted some stats about the pro's and suggested i was actually getting quite close in reality and shouldn't beat myself up about it.
Following on from Bob's thread about how you would play your pitch shots, and from other posts I've read in the past about lying up to favourite distances.
How close do you normally/on average get to the GREEN from, say, 100 yards out?
Life saver , well ok Golf saver .. thank you for that, i feel slightly better
Bizarrely I find I can get closer from nearer 150 yds out than I do from 100 yds![]()

The more I think of it, the more I realise that my pitching is probably the strongest part of my gameThe thing that kills me is when I hit a bad shot off the tee and often I think that's due to a lack of concentration. Plenty of food for thought and looking forward to my lunchtime pitching practice

Happy with up to 12'
13-20' not the end of the world
Outside 20' is shocking.
100 yards from where?
QUOTE]
From thick rough, in driving rain at night on February 29th. Obviously.
100 yards from where?
Normal/average shot. If you can't understand the meaning of those erms I have set out a couple of examples for you:
If your average shot, from 100 yards, is from a links pot bunker then take it from there.
If your average shot, from 100 yards is from thick rough, down hill lie, ball below your feet with the prevailing wind into your face, then take it from there.
You'v done very well to get down to 4.1 if either of those is your average approach shot!
