I understand what you are saying but I was trying to make the point that where does the average golfer play this 100 yard shot from?
Most replys look like they are playing from the centre of the fairway, thats great most of us will be looking to hit the green, knock it close depending on ability level. Golf's not that simple how many times are we 100 yards from the green but in the crap.
If the question relates to from the centre of the fairway, flat lie and no wind then I would be expecting to hit it inside 15 feet and be unhappy if I didn't do that.
It's an interesting comment. If I'm 100 yards from the green, chances are I'm there for 2, so if I'm not on the fairway something has gone horribly wrong.
Guessing good players *often* find themselves 100 yards from the green after the drive....
There are only about 2 or 3 holes (par 4s) where I might be 100 yards. If I miss the green from there, I'm seriously NOT happy.
There is one par 5 where I try to get it near the 100 yard disk. To get there is driver-fairway wood, so in the light rough is acceptable. I expect to have a nice putt (from not too far) but at my standard will accept just missing the green and giving myself a chance to save par.
