My poor line and distance adventures continued on our end of winter season fling using all normal tees but one.
Tee to green, I have never been so accurate, on our recovering greens, I have never been so rubbish. 40 putts Inc at least 6 3 putts iirc. 25 points out and 16 in.
I have resisted buying anything as my problems seem to be me and not my kit. One putt is well short while the next hole it is too hard etc leaving horrible 6 footers which on the repairing greens are nigh impossible to me. On the plus side I didn't miss anything inside 18 inches!!
After next week I expect the greens to be a lot better as the greenstaff have a fantastic knack of preparing them for the first qualifiers of the year.
Please tell me others are having bother on their less than perfect greens and that they see it as a temp problem too...

Having banged in a desperate 43 putt round the other week, I sacked my putter and went back to an old favourite with much improved results.

I'm definitely not one for chopping and changing that much as if I drive, chip, putt etc badly, I know it's me and not the club. But there does come a time when a change gives you the opportunity to make a fresh start without the baggage of the old club.

jeezuz - just how is 41 points off 9 possible with 40 Putts ?!?!

I didnt play that yesterday, ended with 33pts, which showed I wasnt that far off, but even so, still only had 36 putts !

Hey Brendy

Its the Golfing Gods stepping in to protect you

If you had made say 30 putts, you would have amassed so many points that certain uneducated persons might have called you a Bandit . The Gods have saved you this distress.

Looking on the bright side, does sound like a cut will be on the way soon, once you get the putter working

Fragger

PS. Wanna buy a chipper??

I use a YES "Callie" putter but in the next couple of weeks
I will be buying another putter,I realley cant understand
how Ive got this bad,tee to green Im hitting my shots great
when Ive reached the green everything goes pear shaped,Ive
heard many people say "its all in your head",well after my
last round, not any bl*****g more.LESSONS there Ive said it..

He probably drove all the par 4's and 5's, it happens if you're a member of this forum :)

Not sure how 25pts on the front 9 is possible if you're also 3-putting, hopefully we'll get enlightened.

I really want to work on my putting stroke but they've sanded the practice green and it's like Blackpool out htere and bears no resemblance to the proper greens which they haven't touched. Can't see the point when the pace is 50% down and the ball gets covered in muck. If I was you I'd be accepting that tee to green you sound like you are in fabulous form and be content with keeping that going. You know well enough that you don't become a bad putter overnight. You're probably letting the bad greens get inside your head way too much

I'm with you Brendy, 36 points yesterday with 2 blobs and 3 putted 5 times.Dew was on the greens until midday, the're very bumpy anyway and just I couldn't find the distance

I'm sure one even deviated up a slope away from the hole. and if you note from the sig I don't do 30 yd putting ;)

Its actually worse than I thought, 41 points with 42 putts (8 three putts, not 6 though two of the three putts were from long range just on the edges of the greens.
I am just back from prizegiving (and a few pints of the black stuff), won best front nine on a count back!! The last stat I can remember from SS2 was that I averages 33 putts per round so I am marking this down to the sanded greens. 45 points won top prize going down to 41 for the places which I was beaten out of due to a poor back nine.
Toby, hybrid is the last thing on my mind :D
Phil, every putt was missing by really laughable distances, normally I would have holed a couple of them. Once we are off the very back sticks again, I'll worry more if it continues.

1 - 5 bogey 3 putts
2 - 3 eagle 1 putt shoe in.
3 - 4 par 2 putts
4 - 4 birdie 2 putts
5 - 4 par 2 putts
6 - 4 par 2 putts
7 - 3 par 2 putts
8 - 4 par 2 putts
9 - 4 par 2 putts
35 -2 18 putts
10 - 5 bogey 3 putts
11 - 3 birdie 1 putt shoe in
12 - 3 par 2 putts
13 - 5 bogey 3 putts
14 - 4 bogey 3 putts
15 - 6 d/bogey 3 putts
16 - 5 par 3 putts
17 - 4 bogey 3 putts
18 - 5 bogey 3 putts
40 +6 24 putts
total 75 +4 42 putts.

Thats some golf tee to green Brendy

The putting will soon sort itself out when theres some consistency to the greens, wouldnt worry too much about it at minute.

You just gotta hope the tee to green play stays with you when the putts start going in, thats the hard bit, getting it altogether at same time :D

My half drunken playing partners were saying that I choked today. I dont see how, my putting had been poor all round with only 2 single putts, one in each nine. I hit one poor iron and one slightly hooked drive all day and even then the recovery shots were fine, putting though, may as well have let my 7 year old daughter hit them.

Having been a complete drunkard last night at the winter league prizegiving, I wasn't holding out much hope of a decent round today especially when one of our fourball (drinking buddy last night) emerged from the trees to the side of the 1st tee teebox having just brought up last nights fare. First round back onto the mid to back sticks too.
Shot 73 For 43 points. Best bit was 28 putts, wind was pretty strong and constant so missed the odd green but birdies all par 5's and had 3 sand saves, one played on my knees!

The green staff have been out improving the putting surfaces this week plus the little rain cleared some more of the sand that had been the bain of my putting recently. I had an inch and a half taken off my whitehot yesterday and it feels a lot better.

Anyone else have any half assed drunken results today? :D

J, I've stopped being erratic with the driver and irons, I am quite confident I should lose a shot or two this year, last year I came down to 8.0 but a couple of rounds at the end of the year pushed me up to 8.5, 9.
I joined the club off 6.0 but having 3 very young daughters completely stopped my practice time but will be making more of an effort this year.

Just pullin' your chain Brendy... a couple of good rounds is what we all need to fire up our passion for the game, golf can really kick you in the nuts sometimes... just ask Smiffy! :)
