Hello Everyone,

I have been playing golf for about 2 years now and play off 16. I dont feel my handicap justifies how well i can play. I feel i have the mechanics of a great swing and honestly dont think am that far away from becoming a consistent golfer. The only problem i struggle so bad off the tee. I can either hit is straight down the middle or straight in to out of bounds and unfortunately its more of the latter. Like today for example i hooked everyone of my drives and just have not got a clue how to fix it. I have had a few lesson but dont feel they helped me at all. I love golf so much but honestly its killing me right now. I play in a society and struggle to sleep the night before comps incase i make a fool out myself.

Can anybody recommend a good Pro in the merseyside area that can bring me on or give me ways of how i can fix and adjust things.

Please help haha

It's a game and supposed to be for fun unless your trying to make money out of it. Cannot help with a pro as I'm way down in the SW but just relax, many people are just grateful they are the right side of the fairway. Try some irons of the tee and when you get a pro recommended, go, listen and trust.

Are you working on what the pro has told you to do? You have to realise that you often go backwards before forwards when taking lessons and you MUST groove in the recommended changes otherwise you are throwing money away.

Steve Holden at Liverpool golf range in netherley is fantastic, if he can't fix you nobody will.

If you want a positive, your handicap is better than average. You must be doing something right. Sometimes, when things aren't going well in a round, you need a go to shot. Occasionally my drives get a little wayward. I switch to a 3 wood, and swing easier. The main thing it does is restore my timing. Must of my dodgy drives are when I get a bit quick, and excited, and start chasing after the ball. I come over the top and either straight pull it or hook it.

Sounds to me like you're trying to hard, I had exactly the same problem a few months back, first thing I did was 'drop the driver' and opt for a '3 wood' next was too not worry about how far I was hitting it but concentrate on an easy swing and a clean strike (you'll be very surprised at just how far you'll hit it) and once your back to hitting it straight and clean the rest will come along soon enough !...

The more you duff it the harder you'll try, the harder you try the more you'll duff it, just bare that in mind and don't get yourself wound up over it oh and one final thing don't try and throttle the club (it's already dead) a lose grip will contribute massively towards distance and accuracy !...

Good luck !...
