Don't know if this has cropped up before, but what do you do if you're playing with someone who who isn't counting shots properly. What do you actually say? "Oi, you're fecking cheat" or "Are you really sure that was a five?" How do you do it so that you don't feel like the git for asking?

You buy him one of those things you attach to your belt where you move a beed down everytime you hit the ball, and give it to him as a 'prize' for being the most reliable scorer. He either decides to deliberately cheat, or becomes overhwhelmed with joy and begins to use the scorer which makes sure he doesn't forget his score if the wrong score was being submitted due to a genuine mistake in his maths.

You dont sign their card and tell them why at the end. That way they know in future not to be a lying cheating scumbag. I caught somebody using the "leather wedge" a couple of seasons back in a medal, I confronted them at the time and I was told it was my word against theirs.

My game fell apart after the incident and I walked off at the 12th ripping up their scorecard as I went. Disgusted I was!

You agree with him then verbally go through all of his shots and finish with "Hang on, doesn't that make......." That way you allow him the chance to rectify the "Mistake" and save a bit of face. Then don't play with him again.

Indeed, a polite count back or two normally separates the cheat from the honest mistake. If it keeps happening then more direct action may be necessary.

Yep MVp I would question it at the end of each hole. I would never wait until the end of the round as I would have forgotten myself. I think if you do it there and then he/she wouldn't do it again!

Hands up, I've actually did this at my first Sat S'ford last week. My playing partner (never met before) did exactly the right thing and asked if I'd counted correctly, we then went through every shot down the hole. He was right, I did miss a duff of a 3 footer with the 20 deg rescue. The reason for the miss count, simple, I put shite shots out of my head really quickly, and move onto the plan and visulisation for the next shot (positive thinking and all that). So I had completely forgotten to count the duff shot. I was embarrased, especially being my first ever competition. But my playing partner was very honourable in how he brought it up, no accusations or anything. Perhaps I need a clicker!

This is just what I was after - so, as best as you can recall, precisely what did he say when he asked if you counted correctly? And what did you feel at the time? As if you were being accused of cheating? or if you were being accused of incompetence? or something else?

Miscounting is one thing but when you are just about to give up on a lost ball and just as your partners are heading back to their own shots, suddenly you see it there glistening 10 yards further on/short of where you were looking is an unconfortable situation too. Its happened to me a couple of times recently, I hate it when it happens, you almost can help but feel you look suspicious!
