Had enough of my putter!

A couple of winters back I bought one of those mirrored putting training aids made by Izzo. I know a lot of these aids are gimmicky but this one ain't.
You see your eyes, shoulders and swing path reflected so you can get positions correct and aligned correctly, you also actually hit the ball off the mirrored surface so yo can take it to the putting green too.
I was surprised that when I thought my eyes were directly over the ball, they in fact weren't by a long way. I also have one of those nice putt ball returners and after setting up on the Izzo mirror correctly I couldn't miss. I go back to this frequently to get positioned correctly over the ball.
Rather than poor mechanics I'm sure your set up is probably just needing tweeked (lined up better), saying that you holed a few tricky ones last Friday!

Review of Yes! Tiffany by Parmo

Opening the box gave a strange feeling of shock and wonder, Yes! Tiffany is not one for the best looking putters, but its weight and sight alignment gave me something to think about.

The unique sight alignment lines and head shape really helped me get a feel for this putter straight away. The Yes! C-Groove feel wonderful on the longer putts, the confidence this putter brings is unreal. I found using this putter a real pleasure, I was impressed with all aspects of this putter once I was able to get over the alignment lines and head shape.

After testing the Yes! Tiffany I can only relegate my existing putter (Hippo OS4) to the shed. Putting has always been a weakness for me, now I have the confidence it seems so much easier.

Yes! It’s remaining in the bag. ;)

I have to agree up to the point about it being the idiot holding the stick (not a direct reference!!) and not the stick itself. However as someone who is also going through a dip on the greens at them moment, a lot of it is to do with the mental side.

I am trying so hard to concentrate on speed (on long putts) that line is going out of the equation. On the short putts (2-3 feet) I'm so worried about missing that the stroke is so tense that a pull or a push is inevitable.

I have an Odyssey Marxman mallet but I ditched it for a round or two and went back to my Ping Anser. I found the blade looked more appealing over the ball but it did not help the problem.

I have gone back to the mallett simply because it is more balanced and a touch heavier. I'm trying not to concentrate much more on feel and touch and leaving mechancis out of my mind - trying to putt by feel.

I was never a great putter but if I can get the mental side right again maybe I'll be more confident which will help make more putts.

Not sure this will help but just my take

I've always been a good putter I never blame the putter it's self I had a wilson for years and only changed it because everyone else was using these Odessy's. I try 1 for a year then I bought my Scotty Cameron no 4. I'm well pleased with it and have had the most wonderfull year with it.
It's not the putter's fault it's the egit using it!

Currently using a Yes tracey 2 putter, having had an old Ping Anser for many years. Have to say I really like it its not to heavy, and is a more traditional shape putter.

I'm not conviced the C gorrves make much difference but they have a really good feel to em. probably plenty knocking around cheap on ebay too.

Just discovered something very interesting about aiming.

I'm pretty convinced that my putting problems don't lie entirely wih my stroke. I have every Dave Pelz putting aid known to man and the feedback I'm getting from them is that I'm square through the ball when practicing on the carpet at home.

However, I don't seem to aim properly when I get to the course. Think I may have stumbled upon the reason.

Recently I started using the old "line on the ball" trick when putting.... but when I stood over the ball to take my putt the hole seemed to be miles to the right of that line. Apparently this is a natural consequence of being "right eye dominant". My own results meant I didn't trust the line on the ball and everything suffered.

I've now changed the position of my eyes over the ball, right eye directly above the back of it now, as opposed to miles behind it, and it's amazing the difference I'm feeling already. I'm seeing a different line to the hole by about 4 inches left on a 9 footer

We'll see how it goes. Anybody believe this guff or is it pretty important? Here's one of the articles I read.

My mate had this problem he ended up getting a scotty circa 62 putter instead of a line it had just a dot on the back of it to centre the putter with the ball, sorted him out. just a suggestion for you friend!
