I go jogging twice a week for about 20minutes, no idea how far that is.

I then try to do 50 lifts with the right arm, then 50 lifts with the left arm. Weight equates to about the same weight as a pint of beer. ;)

With my knees and ankle if i tried anything more than raising my right arm I'd do myself a nasty.
Even find playing consecutive days hard going.

I'm a bit of a fitness fanatic. Note none of this training is golf specific. Just good strength and fitness stuff.

I have a personal trainer twice a week for weight training. It keeps things fresh and helps keep me motivated.

I train between 4-5 times a week.

Monday and Friday is weights. All other training is cardio.

Weights is usually all supersets and strip sets. Usually split between Chest and Shoulders on one day and Back and Arms the other day.

Cardio is a mixture of interval training on 3 pieces of kit. Usually Treadmill, Stepper and Bike. But throw in rower and x-trainer every so often.

Every few weeks I'll do a 5k on the treadmill and time myself to gauge my fitness improvement.

Each gym session never goes over an hour.

I never do any abs work as I find that with a lot of the weight work you need to engage your core for good form. So extra abs is just a waste of time.

And if the weather looks ok I'll go for an run at the weekend for 45-60 mins.

But I make sure I stretch properly after all workouts to keep flexibility and avoid injuries.

I did play one afternoon right after a major back and arm workout and was struggling to grip the clubs. My forearms were still really tight. Came close to sending the club along with the ball on more than one occasion. Never Again !

I've got a gym type thing at home, otherwise known as my 2 yr old daughter:

Monday - Chase around being Monsters
Tuesday - Lift her up and swing her fast
Wednesday - Chase her round garden with football
Thursday - Dancing to her piano music (noise)
Friday - More monster chasing

No time, or energy, left to waste at the gym!!

I'm with you there, and hadn't considered that lifting ours up dozens of times a day would constitute as exercise.

Seems a quite simple split here. Even reading some of these posts tired me out. Put me in the beer camp. So long as I can make 36 holes on the days I need to, then I'm match fit.

I go to the gym every night when I'm offshore, 12hr shift then sraight in the gym. Isolated muscle groups every night, chest, back, shoulders, arms (tonight!), and legs.

Much too busy playing golf when I'm home to go to the gym! ;)

Take out the monday and thursday jogs and replace with more sky sports and tantric sex and you've summed me up ;)

Bike twice a day, morning to fetch my fags, evening to fetch beer.

Joking apart, if you look on the main web site under Instruction, fitness the simple exercise routines by Josh Salzmann (Ernie Els's fitness coach) you only need about 15-20 mins and he reccomends a couple of times a week.
I also like the plank, nice and simple takes 5 mins two to three times per week.
I have more trouble with flexibilty TBH being in my fourties keeping a straightish left arm with a good turn needs some stretching.

absoltely hate Gyms

Hi,
Too much bulking up will effect your golf game none of the top players are bulky they are well toned but not overly muscled as they are doing a lot of golf specific excerises if u really want to bulk u should look to do palaties or yoga to keep flexiable.
