Good practice for maintenance of fringes

We've just filled in a couple of bunkers on the front left corner of our 5th and replaced it with a hollow with very low cut grass; vast improvement to the hole. We also appear to be cutting the grass shorter around other greens so that balls missing the green aren't held up. I think it's a vast improvement.

And if the ball can run off, it can run back on; the putter & the hybrid become part of the recovery strategy. Makes it a better game all round for me, but then I am a links golf fan.
