High Post 8th, 139 uphill into the wind. 8 iron straight over the flag and spun back in![]()
No, as it is more likely that an unseen local urchin popped his near miss into the hole as he was walking past. It's a misty day and you are playing a par 3 uphill, where you can't see the bottom of the cup. You hit a tee shot that felt great off the club, but you cannot see the ball on the green when you get up there. You look in the rough, you look in the bunkers, you look everywhere, but you still cannot find your ball. 3 minutes and 10 seconds after you started looking, you finally find the ball in the hole. Does it count?
I’ve had two, both uphill and didn’t see either go in. The ones I have witnessed within my group have all been down hill and saw them all go in.Hell yes.
The moment the ball is in the hole, the hole is complete. The 3 minute rule isn't relevant.
The only shame is that you didn't see the moment it happened![]()
I do this, albeit more in hope than expectation.Personally, if it felt like it should have been on the green, and wasn't, I'd be taking a quick glance in the hole before I started looking elsewhere.
There are 4 par 3's at my club. You would not see any hole in ones there, they are all above eye level, (yes even for people taller than LT). That is really poor design imo. I can accept the odd par 3 like that, geography of the course can dictate, but for all 4, nope. I want the buzz and excitement of tracking the ball, seeing it drop. I would not have any of that if it happened where I play.I’ve had two, both uphill and didn’t see either go in. What did you think of the course from a low handicap point of view?High Post
It’s a very good course - enjoyed playing there a number of timesWhat did you think of the course from a low handicap point of view?
I've read good things about it but when I looked at their website it looks pretty boring from the flyover.
Both shots were both bang on line and never left the flag. The 1st was a wedge that landed about two foot past the hole and spun back. That felt good as it happened in a team competition. There are 4 par 3's at my club. You would not see any hole in ones there, they are all above eye level, (yes even for people taller than LT). Do you feel you missed out a bit because of that? Bearing in mind it is still a great buzz to find your ball in the hole.
Not to start this debate off again, but nobody's forcing you if you can't afford it and it ruins the experience.Iv'e only had one HIO and it certainly wasn't a joyful experience, straight away I thought bugger how much is this going to cost me. It was about £60 in the end and I sincerely hope I don't have another.
