Good golfers?

I disagree about iron covers. I've only used them since getting my TP's and there isn't any marks on them other than where I've hit the ball
That will mean pristine face and badly damaged shank and toe then :D

Inspired by the chipper thread, what items are not seen in the bags of good golfers?

I propose that the following have no place in the bag of a good golfer:

- Iron head covers
- Telescopic devices to get the ball out of water. The good golfer does not plan for such occasions, which should be rare anyway.
- Chippers, of course
- Special soled sand wedges "guaranteed to get the ball out"
- Ping stuff*
- Plastic built up tees

*TFIC

Bummer!! I play off 9 and my bag has

Headcovers
Lovett wedges
Ping irons
Plastic built up tees

I suppose i will have to be a hacker again, hey ho

Edgey

I have to make a correction here, I feel it is necessary to remind the jury that only good players use forged irons thus only good golfers 'should' be using them to protect their investments.
On the other hand a set of pings/dunlops/slazzys or other hard cast irons..... Well that's a different story.

I have Iron covers... but not so my clubs don't mark, but because I can not stand bag clatter.

Good golfers always have clean clubs and towel their club after each shot. Instead of standing on the tee on each hole scratching off the dried in mud with those stupid little scrapers.

Lol yeascrubbong the middle of the club when everyone else knows that won't be where is hitting the ball :D

What constitutes a good car, a good team, a good house?
There are a basic set of checkboxes like the following, including but not limited to:
Etiquette awareness,
Reasonable ability to strike a ball straightish more often than not,
Not possess a ball retriever, chipper, 1 iron with a head as big as my driver,
Ability to use clubs more than a year old and not blame them everytime they knob one 20 yards short of the green.
Above all, they may never utter the Immortal words of the hacker, 'I don't normally do that' or 'I knew that was going to happen!'

I believe all good holders carry a rulebook, less than 10 golfballs, a wooly hat and a baseball cap for the changeable UK weather, note both hats should never be worn at the same time.
I'm sure I missed a few points.

Right thanks for the shopping list chaps. I've got iron headcovers already. Off shopping tomorrow for:

Pink castle tees
A West Ham Towel
Some novelty wood headcovers
Lovett wedges
Some Ping irons
Trousers with bigger pockets so I can fit at least two balls in there

and of course a chipper :D :D :D

Check. Less than 10 (?).....even 6 is pessimistic, Check
Wooly hat....whoops - can I swap for castle tees? :o

However, I would draw the line at a 9 wood or a 5 hybrid.

I have both. You'll be pleased to hear neither has seen my bag in ages. I bought both as an experiment and regret doing so. :o

After reading this, most of the guys who play on the tours aren't 'good players', must just be clever angles on the TV that makes it look like they are!

Apart from the Pings in my original list, which was a little joke, none of the Tour players do any of the others listed.

I don't like furry head covers, but many Tour players, and a few here, use them, and that is up to them. Doesn't exclude the possibility of being a good golfer.

Forgot to mention, good players should have no more than two different types of balls in their golfbag, those that they play day in day out, ie titleist pro v1 or tm. Having a pinnacle gold, STOLEN driving range ball, molitor, a collectors edition red Arnold palmer uniform dotted stone and 3 topflights with each different generation fonts.

In your list no, but in this thread, which is what I was referring to, there are plenty of things.

Without going back and rereading, just off the top of my head I can think of many tour pros who; have used broomhandle putters, worn woolly hats, worn white trousers, played topflites (back in the days of balata), used GI clubs and yes, used character headcovers.

Hopefully not all at the same time ....
