So, responded to a post on Instagram and booked a spot in a Pro-Am in Oman late Jan.

In Andy Carters team (YouTuber) who I enjoy watching. Arranged through one of the well know organisers.

Play 4 rounds (a round a day) across three courses, with welcome/prize giving events etc, in a 5 start hotel, with all the bells and whistles. Not cheap, but rally fancied it.

Andy messaged today and it's ended up only three teams

Organisers are chucking on some extra bits, including an individual comp and Andy will fill some time with lessons, plus the after golf stuff, which could be great, albeit it's a hotel kind of place I suppose, so will the reduced numbers kill it?

But, half way around the world, a chunk of money, which includes things for me like a travel bag (usually hire clubs), will it still be fun?

Suppose the golf is the golf and worst we can come is third 🤣 but most of these events sees a dozen plus teams.

Basically now it's a golf and coaching trip with 12 people.

Might turn out to be fantastic, might be a bit boring, all depends on how you gel with the others.

Highly likely to be a really good time I would have thought, the other guys who have booked did so on the same basis as you.
Only down side would be the limited social/nightlife, probably restricted to the expensive hotel but just depends what you make of it.

Probably my thoughts too.

No plans to cancel and maybe it’s for the better. No doubt Andy will be using the post golf time for YouTube content, but we will surely have more relaxed rounds, where coaching will be much more intense.

Suppose I shouldn’t moan really. Golf on some fabulous courses in 25 degree heat alongside a pro I think I’ll get on with immensely.

Plus, should come home with a prize!

That's shocking. I don't see how it's fair you lose your flight money
Name and shame the organiser

I booked and paid via the pro, so I've no real 'contract' with the organisers.

If I was in a different frame of mind, they'd be getting billed for new golf shoes, shorts, travel bag - the list of abortive costs does go on a little...

So it's Andy carter? Fair enough if he can't alter the competition being cancelled but to leave you high and dry is really low.
Id bill them for the lot including time off work.
Social media is powerful, doesn't take many bad comments/ reviews to damage reputations

He wasn't happy telling me and found me a space on the Dubai event the week earlier, but I would have been playing with another pro, which was half the reason I booked in the first place) and flights would need to be changed at a cost and it just didn't work for me on those dates.

Could I have dragged a mate out with me and still go - maybe, but the hotel and golf bookings fall away alongside the event sadly.

If they can't fill these events, they can't fill them, so I've no beef to post all over the internet. I'm just disappointed. Maybe direct booking includes flights and there'd have been more protection, as they're ABTA registered - dunno, but we are where we are.

Purely from a legal standpoint; anything that was booked separately would not be entitled to any kind of reimbursement.

To the OP: Sorry to hear about the trip mate.
