Been asked by the club to become the club secretary for the next two years at the AGM. Said I would have a think about it as need to see if I can dedicate enough time to it.

Really difficult one for you, prior to moving to a General Manager (full time) our Secretary has always been a part time job.

Like yours, our membership is around the 600 mark, we had some excellent secretary’s unfortunately some members thought they were full time and the guys were bothered every time they were at the course, including weekends or at socials in the clubhouse or when they were there to play.

Would be very useful for your wife, but I’d have a serious chat with previous Secretaries and make sure your roles and responsibilities are clearly defined before saying yes.

We lost good guys to the way they were treated.
