As well as being a golf fanatic(12hcp) my day job is as a senior technician in the Dept of Engineering at a local Uni.
My particular field is in Civil Engineering,however one of my colleagues in Mechanical Eng has made a test rig for a female student that allegedly replicates the action of a putter.
The "putter" which consists of a solid square block of steel is on the end of a length of screwed bar mounted centrally and vertically and swings in an arc like a pendulum.
As all we educated golfers on this site know this is not how a putting stroke works ,a swing door effect is more likely.
Anyway the upshot was I told the female student her research would'nt work ,the lecturer who set her the project has never golfed and would not know a graphite shaft from a cam shaft told me to mind my own business...so Dave Pelz has nothing to worry about.
