Sorry, but you're either being argumentative for the sake of it, or demonstrating your lack of understanding.

The clubs accounts will demonstrate how much they "need" to charge, based on their operating model (profit making or cost covering) and their cost profile.

I don't have the "maths" for that club above as I'm not a member or their accountant. You stated it was an arbitrary figure, when is almost certainly isn't

The majority of clubs need visitors and Societies to help the finances.
A club that relies on membership subs is treading on very thin ice.
My club loses 40 to 50 members per year through a variety of reasons, fortunately we have a healthy waiting list but it wasn't long ago that we didn't.
That 40 or 50 members equates to 100k in lost income.
That's got to be recovered somehow.
When economic times get tough Golf can be seen by some as a luxury they can't now afford...so subs have to go up and more people will not renew as a result.
You need a healthy balance between members and visitors and if that means marrying up groups into 4 balls then so be it.....

Agree with the bolded parts above. Annual membership dues do not cover most clubs' total expenses (may be so at Augusta National and a few other very private clubs).

Looks to me like you have never looked at a set of golf club accounts if you believe the members subs cover the operating costs of a club.

Err.... no. It is the subs plus whatever income that you can make from other sources, these could be for example solar panels, sponsorship, bar and catering, driving ran]nge income, hosting weddings etc. etc. it also includes green fees from members guests, perhaps flexi or points members and visitors.
Subs are usually the main or large proportion of income for members clubs but by no means all the income for clubs.

7 woods.....I think I'm almost done with them.
On a windless day they're great...sadly we get about 3 such days a year at my place and they're bound to be when I'm not playing.
Downwind isn't too much of a problem apart from the height and tendency to turn left...the ball gets on a gust and just goes.....
Into the wind I can hit my 26° hybrid as far....huge spin, goes nowhere..
I'll persevere for a while but the chances are that a 20° hybrid will find a way into the bag by the Summer.

Re-learn how to hit a 4 iron.

I’ve got a 5 wood which carries around 200 and the 4 hybrid is around 185-190. 5 iron is approx 170.

The 7 wood is 170-180, but as you say, so rare that the conditions suit.

You’re convincing me of all the reasons I keep avoiding a 7 wood. Every time I consider one these are the thoughts that enter my head. Am I really gaining anything over my 4 iron, potential loss of distance in less than perfect conditions, inability to manipulate flight and would it just end up left in the bag. I can’t even consider a hybrid they’re just hook machines for me.

I know I've mentioned this before (sorry!) but why don't some open organisers publish the results? I won't name the club but I had to chase them twice to get anything at all, and then it was just a list of the top three with their prizes.
I don't care who won, and I don't care what they won, I don't know those people - I want to know where I came in relation to everyone else.
I've fed this back to the club and, to be fair to them, they did reply. They just said "we don't do that"! OK, I'll enter somewhere else next time.

To be fair mate if they had to send you the list and started from the winners that’s a lot of names to get through till they reach yours .

I 100% agree. You would think a generic email to all those who booked would be easy to do.
