The imbecile who invented the quick lock system for soft spikes should be put up against a wall and shot.

I try and change mine regularly, run the soles under hot water before trying to remove the old ones, and yet it’s still a horrible battle getting them out.

An hour it’s just taken me, with the blistered hands to show for it.

Before you put a new spike in, put a blob of Vaseline on the mechanism. Seems to work for me.

Always used to do this with my football boots. Works a a treat and stops threads rusting and seizing in crap conditions

100% - the amount of brute force required to remove one of those things has me sweating and needing a lie down afterwards.

And that’s one of the beauty’s of the Stromberg shoes I have been using. They are a threaded spike so none of the quick lock rubbish.
