Golf Random Irritations

Might just be a sizing issue with that design. Sometimes with trainers I really want I have to either get them wide enough but slightly too long, or the right length but slightly too narrow - guess my feet are quite wide. Right length but too narrow is usually the mistake and they can be a bit sore after a lot of walking.
I think that's probably what it is. It's very stiff leather, and I have quite wide feet, so I'm thinking there's a balance I can't quite get right, like my foot can't get far enough into the shoe due to the width so I'm pressed up against the back or something odd like that. They're not obviously too small, they feel fine at first but after about 10, 20 minutes I'm like nope, here we go again. They'd probably be fine in a hot country using a buggy, but as you know I walk and carry so when my foot is agony after 4 holes it ain't fun.

I realise I said heel in my earlier post - the blister is on the back of my achilles, it's the top of the back that rubs

Yeah I have a pair of brown shoes where I made a mistake with the size and they rubbed the top of my heel. I got two plasters but stuck them inside the shoes rather than sticking them to myself each time I wear them. This has worked ok as I wear them very infrequently anyway.

I did think while writing it that they wouldn't end up selling on the forum!

It's not particularly about the money or anything and I have another pair I can wear, it's just a shame to have them sitting around and I do like the look of them. It's also unusual as I've had other Adidas shoes of similar variety (Sambas, Gazelles etc, albeit not golf shoes) and they are some of the most comfortable I've ever owned.

Yeah too often I found myself inbetween sizes on adidas and they're kinda narrow.
Switched to under armour about 10yrs back and happy as a pig in poo since then

The Stan Smiths are spikeless so I would wear them as trainers when out and about, and not for golf. You can wear them in that way before going back out on the course with them.

@Orikoru : Maybe you should give an Odyssey 2-ball putter or even the new AI 1/2 ball putter a try ? 🤔

This way you don't have to mark the balls at all ... ! 🤷‍♂️;)
The only two clubs I have left in my bag from when I started golf again last decade is a 56 degree sand wedge and an odyssey two ball putter. It is a thing of beauty and is the one club I would never get rid of. The concept of the two ball putter works very well for me.👍

re bold: Perhaps no surprise there

The concept of wonky messed up rubber footwear works well for you, doesn't mean you should though :p

Am sure the saying “ don’t judge me
Til you have walked in my shoes” was started when someone saw me walk. 😖

Having a 37° 9-iron this year. This means I need 4 "wedges".

I usually pride myself on being able to adapt to change, but this continues to niggle me with regard to club selection and picturing the shot I'm about to play for shots with those "wedges".
It does not feel right/natural yet with regard to the thought process in preparation for the shot.

And getting 140 yards with a 9-iron continues to feel utter bonkers. I hope I adjust over the next few weeks/months. I want this to feel natural.
I'm not "stuck in the past", I want to live and play 2026 golf, but I'm not finding adjustment as easy as I would like it to be.

You can't see the number on the bottom of the club when you take the shot so how is it even messing with your head? Madness :ROFLMAO:

As I said, it is in preparation for the shot where the difficulty lies. And creating that certainty in my mind at this time.
This starts around the same time as looking at all the clubs in the bag where their numbers on the soles are clearly showing.
Hitting the ball with the club is not an issue for me.
Thanks for your concern though.

It’s also funny seeing people moan that they’re hitting the ball further 😂

I must be a simple creature. I genuinely don’t see the issue with shot preparation, you now know 140yds is a 9 iron regardless of the loft on the club so that’s one issue solved.

Learn the new distances for wedges and that’s that issue solved. Like I said I’m a simple man I genuinely don’t see the issues. Bit like buying a new driver and finding out you now hit it 270yds and moaning but I liked the fact my old one only went 250😂

I only properly started playing and caring about golf around 8-9 years ago and so I’ve always been hitting jacked lofts. However, I know what you mean. I’m guessing it’s similar to when you’re hitting into a strong wind and having to use a 5 iron for what would usually be a 9/8 iron, it’s hard to commit. ‘Am I really hitting a 5i 130 yards?’

I think it is more about the fact that I've used the same set of irons for 18 summers and I'm used to having made up mind before I even reach my ball on the fairway.
I have gone from a routine of nearly automatic confidence to a more careful approach that requires a little more time and thought.
That this might be bordering on dithering, in comparison to what I had become used to, is MY irritation - not anyone else's.

Have you tried getting a Sharpie and writing '8' on the 9 iron and so on? Should help.

That’s always going to happen though with any change of equipment especially going from such an old set to a newer set up.

I’m sure you’re not taking too much time, but maybe just over thinking it a little. Give yourself a break and enjoy the new challenge ☺️
