Golf Random Irritations

In light of the additional information then if (for whatever reason) you wanted to play such a convoluted format then yes you could set it up on GG.

It’s a format that our Seniors play once each year. They try to vary their competitions, Waltz, reverse Waltz, Yellow Ball, Medfords etc all coupled with a season long eclectic and a Victor Ladorum. I’ve played iMedford with them, it’s not particularly different to playing any stroke play competition.

We are still very much in the learning phase of using GG and whilst we do get very good support from GG, we try to work it ourselves first, but struggled with Bogey and Medford set up.

Now I’m really confused. All my years playing and I’ve never heard of a Walt, Reverse Waltz or a Medford. Are these simply made up games or have I been living in a cave!

Yellow ball I get and there are several nuances depending where you play it and can be fun. Victor Ladorum is the only other thing I understood, but not as a golf format just from its Latin Meaning for Winner of the games. I think I need a lay down 😂

Simple variation of AMAM. First hole , 1 from 4 to count, 2 hole, 2 from 4 , third hole 3 from 4 to count. Replay. 1,2,3 as the Waltz rhythm.
The Reverse Waltz is as 3,2,1. They are a bit more tactical than a straight AMAM, as you can set up the playing order as you choose but then have to stiay with it.

I still need the explanation of how to set up GG from the drop downs for a Medford please.

Playing fantastic team golf in a scramble tee to green and then not holing a putt......
(Florida Scramble, winning score 52 - worst score 61 - 26 teams)

10 over gross for the front nine

1 over gross for the back nine

I used to do that a lot.

I was having a lesson and after about 5 minutes the pro stopped asking me to hit balls (nothing much wrong there) and the rest of the lesson was spent talking about how I approached my round and my mental attitudes towards my game. We boiled it down to dropping my expectations before going out and on every tee and to stop writing the winners speech on the first tee.

Stood on the 18th green yesterday, just finishing our round, I was holding the flag while the others putted out when I hear the thud of a ball hitting the green. We all look around and one of my PP's suggested it's come from an over shoot on the 18th on our smaller 18 hole course - but when I look at the pitch mark, I can see it's come from the group behind, who are already walking off the tee.

290 yard par 4, so it's driveable, but if you think you can reach you ABSOLUTELY wait for the green to clear.

The ball was no more than 5 feet from hitting me, lad apologised but to I made my feelings quite clear nonetheless.

No fore shout either? Unforgiveable.

I am my own golfing irritation. I put all my gear in the car this morning, drove to the club, went in had a coffee before going back out to the car to get my gear out and there was a distinct lack of golf Shoes in my boot! I left both pairs I own by the front door!

Fortunately I live under 10mins away from the club so it didn’t cause me to much issue going back to get them but it’s still annoying.

What’s an AMAM?

Sifting through some old docs.

Burnham 2019. 36 holes, one night in Dormy House and breakfast. £140 off season.
Current price £310.

Lahinch. Green fee now €450, plus compulsory caddy, fee varies.

Actually, makes Burnham look like excellent value!🤣🤣
I played Lahinch around 15years ago, think I paid something like €110 but wasn’t made to have a caddy. That’s a hell of an inflation and add on the Caddy fee wouldn’t be far off what I’ve paid for my Annual subscription this year 😳

After a little practice last week I drew lines on all my golf balls to help my putting alignment. After trying it on Sunday I'm not sure I liked it really. Shame I already drew lines on the 7 or so balls I had in my bag at the time.

Welcome to my world. I hate a line on a golf ball, I don’t like seeing anything when I’m stood over a putt other than the clean ball. No lines , no logo or even the brand name of the ball just a plain ball is why I need to see.

Amazes me how often people line up a line with their putt then don’t hit it on that line anyway or have misread the putt that the line wouldn’t have helped anyway.

You really are a fussy bugger when it comes to golf aren't you? No lines on the ball, no fins on your driver - maybe you should have nothing on the floor and just pretend to swing a club and hit the ball :ROFLMAO:

If I played like that I’d definitely be a better driver of the ball 😂

You say fussy, I prefer to call myself simple! Oh wait hang on…….😂

Yeah.. I haven't done it to line up the ball with the hole, I did it because I noticed I was lining my ball up toe-side of the putter instead of the middle, so the line is just to line it up with the alignment line on the putter. However I still feel like the line puts me off. I prefer to just have a vague feel for what the line is, focus on speed and putt with a bit of freedom, and lining things up seems to inhibit that slighty.

I think my next idea will be just to draw a big black dot on the ball instead, and line that up with the putter alignment (situating it on top of the ball when I put it down). Maybe that will achieve what I need. Or, since the lines are already on there I was thinking I might just sit the ball so I can only see the back half of the line, lining up to the putter head - kind of like this:

Whatever works for you mate. I think that idea is a fairly decent way of getting the ball aligned in the middle of the club face. Question is will it put you off on longer shots 😂
