According to our Head Greeny, all we need is 2 or 3 dry days on the bounce and the course will be back to normal - no temps, no closed holes, trolleys allowed...
Right...that means about the middle of May then.......![]()
Hang on in there, some hope on the horizon. The course has had 14 inches of rain since the beginning of November...usually gets about 6 in the same time...
No sign of it stopping...
Sounds remarkably similar to last Summer here.Do know the last time we have had rain here.....Perth got some earlier this week but not a drop for us at home or the two courses I am a member of.
Not up here in Harrogate....maybe in another 10 days or so.....Hang on in there, some hope on the horizon.![]()
That’s the same as Aylesbury. Not up here in Harrogate....maybe in another 10 days or so.....
I may have given i hope by then.....That’s the same as Aylesbury.
Last week of Feb, first week of March is when we’ll hopefully see a change.
I'd have thought it would focus your mind. Come on, you know what you want to doI've got some decisions to make on which club/clubs to stay at....this weather is not helping. Or....is it?
Nope. Each has their strong points. Closest has 1. 7-8 min drive 2. small practice area But....1. most expensive 2. Less friendlyI'd have thought it would focus your mind. Come on, you know what you want to do![]()
It’s a quite a good problem to have, I think all the Harrogate courses are good, but I don’t know much about their social side or ease of integrating.Nope. Each has their strong points. Closest has 1. 7-8 min drive 2. small practice area But....1. most expensive 2. Less friendly
Next furthest (20 min) 1. great practice area 2. open the most this winter. But..... rollups hard to get going
Furthest (25 min) 1. Friendliest 2. most varied course 3. cheapest But...no practice area
That's what works for you. I'm a morning person so I might be on the practice area by 7am or so. I also mostly hit short shots, if I hit 100 balls probably 70 of those would be wedges. I don't want to waste my time and money hitting short shots with beat up range balls. Range balls tend to be shorter than decent balls and the last thing I want to do is try to hit accurate wedge shots that are going to go a distance I can't depend on.I can only practice after 8pm and I don't fancy doing it in the dark.![]()
I’m more shocked that it is £10.50 to hit 50 rocks at a range.Annoying price structures. Just checking out a driving range that has the following prices:
50 balls = £10.50. 75 balls = £11.50. 100 balls = £12.50
So the first 50 balls work out 21p per ball, but after that it's 4p per ball?? Who came up with this? It's actually more cost effective to buy 100 and throw 17 of them away than it is to get 75.
I'm really an odd ball of a golfer. I've been a member at 3 local courses (Oakdale, Ripon, Knaresborough), each has a noticeably different feel. Even though I've been back in the area for over 10 years I've still not played quite a few of the local courses, Wetherby, Harrogate, Rudding, Pannal, and others a little further away.....I keep getting told I need to play with either the Seniors or 2nd team matches, but my experience with a couple of the Senior matches is that they aren't much fun.....slow play and the required meal/speeches etc. It’s a quite a good problem to have, I think all the Harrogate courses are good, but I don’t know much about their social side or ease of integrating.
Yeah, agreed, with that pricing structure there is basically no incentive to buy 50 balls at all. Plus it's only a TopTracer range, which in my view is inferior to Trackman.I’m more shocked that it is £10.50 to hit 50 rocks at a range.![]()
