The former.Does the letter last a lifetime or do you need a new one each year?

So basically, it's a tick box exercise with zero merit. You can probably print one off the internet, it's worth as muchNone of the guys I know who have a doctors note actually saw the doctor, no appointment was required, just a request via reception, pay the fee and you get the letter.
It’s a bit of a palaver, but the fee which is generally £40-£50 will act as a deterrent for those who don’t actually have a medical issue but can’t be bothered carrying.
Just put some scribbles on a paper, no one can read doctors handwriting anywaySo basically, it's a tick box exercise with zero merit. You can probably print one off the internet, it's worth as much![]()
So Doctors actually still even write. All mine is done printed now, though I still don’t understand the big words even though I can read them nowJust put some scribbles on a paper, no one can read doctors handwriting anyway![]()
Same as us, everyone seems to accept the rule with good grace.Doctors note only for the use of buggies at our place
No note no buggy

I take it it’s “prove it” for Comps only?Yep - if you need a buggy then prove it
But if course conditions deem it a requirement then we will have carry on
It’s always amusing when those that say that can’t carry suddenly seem to be able to carry when it’s carry only

That's miserable. Why have they done this?Nope - need to prove it to use a buggy around the course during any time
So, they turn away business in the summer and have buggies not getting used unless you have a doctors note?Nope - need to prove it to use a buggy around the course during any time

I haven’t used a buggy for a long time but would be tempted on a very hot day.
Behave! So if a member, say you, have a couple of hours to spare and to maximise the time you’d like to hire a buggy, you’d need a doctors letter? Surely that’s losing the Club income for no reason?Nope - need to prove it to use a buggy around the course during any time

It's miserable because you are excluding people with limited mobility. If you can't see that you are missing the benefits of the social aspect of a game of golf.Because it’s a tight course in a lot of places and wanted to reduce the amount of traffic used mainly by the two seater buggies
Not sure why it’s miserable
I get that Phil, I just don’t unddrstahnd why you wouldn’t maximise the financial side of owning or renting your buggies, unless, have yous not got many buggies? The member can walk or use a trolley
There are some clubs in the area that only have two single seater buggies and very rarely let them out

For reference, you don't need a doctor's note to play in a buggy at my club. Whether socially or in a comp.
