Golf Random Irritations

Might just be me but I find the plethora of "what's in the bag" articles and videos to be massively irritating and a complete waste of effort....and I don't even look at them.
I've no interest in what Tommy had in his bag last week as it bears less than 0% resemblance to what is, and whatever will be, in my bag.....
Every Sunday/Monday the YouTubers and online sites list all these exotic shafts in ridiculous flexes as if it's supposed to help us, the poor, impoverished average golfer...
I'm sure some must get a kick from it but it's a waste of resources as far as I'm concerned
100% agree with couldn’t careless what a Tour player is using as I’m never going to be hitting those close clubs or playing those specs!! I’ll expand on your irritation when you see YouTubers Shields, Finch et al doing their what WITB videos, genuinely who cares 🤣

Good for you to making your displeasure known - too many suffer in silence so the perpetrators get away with it.
I’ve never been shy or one to suffer in silence and would normally politely call someone out on it but today was far from polite. Mrs M is quite an introverted person so even accepting the invite to play with her Pal and her fella was a big step and this had a big dent in her confidence until the idiots in question ran off with their tails between their legs. Fortunately she settled on the back 9 and hit some good shots and got some good advice off the guy we were paying with.

And you can add in the YT bunch doing their WITB for 2025....now...in October......it'll all have changed by January.....

I’ve never lost my rag like that on a course but 7 holes in and hearing it with them chasing behind us despite us waiting on every shot pushed me over the edge.

Lovely course but to far out of the way to ever make my list of somewhere I would go weekly. I love a joke but in this one I’ve lost my sense of humour! Hearing comments like women don’t belong on a golf course, good job they look good especially when putting the tee in or what else is the point bringing them out here!

There were other things that occurred as well but after a word with them they disappeared after 9 holes, Fortunately the other fella in our group is a Club Pro at another course down the Hampshire coast and you can imagine the chat he had in the pro shop post round so it’s being dealt with.
Good for you for not tolerating this. I’d absolutely follow up with something in writing to the club and expect a response so it can’t be swept under the carpet, as it may with no written record. As someone who plays golf with his daughter I’m naturally a little protective so anything that culls anyone making unacceptable and overtly sexual and sexist comments like these from the golf course and makes clear they are not welcome, I’m all in favour.

It’s being followed up and through better channels than myself. As I mentioned the other lad in our group is Club pro at another course just further down the coast and is dealing with it directly so should get some feedback about it. There’s no need in society for idiots like that let alone on a course where people already feel nervous.

Just noticed this is page 666.

My random annoyance today is the clubs new behaviour policy.....which when you go into the clubs site to book a tee time you get this huge page of rules that you then have to scroll to the end of and either "agree to all the above" before you can make a tee time....or " don't agree to the above" and you can't make any tee times.

A couple rules if enforced would throw me out on my ear in......well.....now. My making this post breaks one of the rules. I'm not allowed to post anything complaining about the club or other members or employees on social media. Another is no swearing inside the clubhouse or on the course. I'm doomed.

We have a social media policy with similar rules.

It is all about the commercial side of the club, if potential fee payers and societies see members slagging off the club they are not likely to book.

Hopefully your wife is not put off by these comments, unfortunately like life there are idiots in the golfing world as well.
Out of interest may I ask what course?
Just so I know to avoid as well, last thing I need is the Mrs knocking out 2 members 😂

Just.....not......right. I can understand the clubs point of view. But.....you can only join if only say wonderful things about the club? Sounds very Trump-like.

Not going to outwardly name on Open forum due to the ongoing complaint that would be unfair on its other members as not everyone is an Ass (well you’d hope not)

I actually do find it interesting - sorry. 😂 Gear pervs are among us. 😁

I’m one of the people who read them, but mainly retro because I’ll be watching golf on tv and see, for example, is that an m2 rosey was playing then…and Google what they played in 2021. Or I’ll see a ping driver being used by a player wearing a callaway hat and wonder whether someone is breaking their sponsorship contract!!

I don’t tend to watch those sort of golf videos, do they do anywhere an average Joe tries playing with a Tour player’s clubs? If so, is it interesting?

I would imagine most clubs have some form of behaviour expectations these days. Not a bad thing in my book.

The having to agree to it to book a member tee time seems a bit much though.

Yep we have a code of conduct for the course and clubhouse and swearing is part of it

Would expect most to not be swearing in the club house and be aware of others when on the course

Publicly slagging off your own course will have the potential to cause harm to that course

You aren’t required to say wonderful things it just about not being critical in the public domain
