Golf Random Irritations

You can have an opinion , speak to the club with the issues , as opposed to going public- slagging off a club publicly isn’t great and has the potential to damage it
No....I understand this and agree. But I do NOT sign off on the right to "slag off" the club if I wish to. Secret service....yes. Golf club....no.

That's what Trump is doing......does it make it right? Join a club....give up all personal rights?

Your personal rights haven’t been given up - you have the right to complain through the proper channels

You also have the right to not join the club and join somewhere else - you aren’t forced to join the club

But if you do you are then required to abide by the club rules and any code of conduct they put in place

Which is why I will be leaving at the end of the season.......and likely joining another club fairly soon. I do not agree to giving up my basic rights just to play golf. If I pay my taxes.....am I allowed to complain about the Govt?

Yes you can complain about the government 🤷‍♂️

You can also go through the correct channels

Your “basic rights” aren’t given up when you join a club

Yet if I decide to say something not "good" about the club on social media......I'm in trouble. That would seem to be a basic rights issue......

Again it depends on what you say and the manner it’s said and the code of conduct of the club

Surely it’s “common sense” and your basic rights are not saying whatever you want

Freedom of speech surely signing up to these is removing your freedom of speech to speak about the club openly.

You may disagree but I would not abide by that rule. If I want to say something whether that on social media in person or screaming it in the streets that’s my choice not the clubs.

Then it will be the clubs choice to remove your membership 🤷‍♂️

Do people expect to be able to say whatever they want without any repercussions?

Can people say whatever they want about employers ?

If someone has an issue with the club then as with anything follow the correct channels and speak to someone within the club - a club will not allow members to damage their reputation

Do you have issues with visitors who leave bad reviews for places?

They are visitors , and again it’s all about context and what they say on social media - if it’s deemed unacceptable then they prob won’t be able to visit again
You can say what you like about your club on social media.
But don’t expect the club to like it and probably ask you to leave!
It’s your choice!

I would imagine it is just a case of a club looking to cover themselves incase things really kick off with a member.
I’m sure if you put the fairways could do with a cut then nothing would happen.
If you was to say the club was full of cheats and the treasurer is creaming money off the top then I would expect to be asked to explain myself.

In reality if something is so bad that is go to the effort of complaining about it online to the world I probably wouldn’t be fussed about not being invited back/kicked out.

In most cases I’ve seen a negative review has brought about an invite back in an effort to prove that the negative experience was the outlier and not the norm

Again will depend on what the review is and how it comes across , a member you would expect to speak to the club directly- as with everything context is key

What does complaining online get you.?
Tell the club , if they don’t sort it then complain .

If it’s that bad just don’t renew next year.

I can’t recall anything I’ve ever complained about online, I probably don’t care enough to go to the effort, but many people do cause they either want the attention or feel they deserve some form of compensation
