Golf Random Irritations

Totally agree but as it is a works do and we are very much bound by the Code of Conduct, I would probably end up in front of HR if I pointed out his views were wrong. That is the world I work in unfortunately.
I feel that pain and so many times myself have been told off for telling people they’re stupid 🤣

I hope you took your clubs, there's a couple of stunning courses out there.
Santo da Serra really is a must play golf course.
Didn’t…

There is a new Faldo-designed course being built at the very western tip of the island on top of the cliffs by it’s lighthouse. Not sure it’s best thing sticking a golf course and hotel(s) there - and in such a small village community, but by the looks of it it’ll be an absolutely fantastic track in a truly awesome location - and typically they’ll be charging a fantastic amount to play it…€300/round I have been told.

I have successfullyused that method in the past but couldn’t access Sky through it on my IPad or IPhone in Greece last week, but could get it though my wife’s iPhone on 5G ( is 5G a red herring?).
I think the issue is location services, which I did turned off in settings, but I’ve got a vague memory that Sky uses some other sneaky method to locate the device - any clues?

Seniors medal comp yesterday. I played generally pretty well but cocked up two par 3 holes and dropped 4 shots on them. My score was 3 worse than the winner. Grrr.

In our clubhouse we have one group of tables and chairs set for at least 10 players (we have a few swindles of that size on a Saturday) .

Virtually every Saturday lately we walk in and there is a group of just 3 players sitting at the table with many smaller tables available.

That’s a shame, I’ve used it numerous times to watch the golf whilst on holiday, really easy to use.

Driving 30 minutes to the club for an early comp tee time, only to arrive to see they have just closed the course.

I had a strong suspicion it would be closed before I left my house due to the rain. I have no idea why they can't make that decision well in advance of the first scheduled tee time

That's something I've never understood. I've been a member at 3 local courses, 2 of which don't put out weather related closures etc very early at all. Ripon (big thumbs up) sends out a message to all members by 6am. Ripon is a 25 min drive for me, so I really appreciate the info. No idea why all courses can't do this.

Ours do send out messages. But because the first tee time is before 8am, and they don't check the course until about 8, the msg does not get sent out until after (8.10 am it was sent today).

So, as it takes me about 30 mins to get to club, if my tee time is before 9am, I'm not going to get that msg early enough. My tee time today was 8.24

I wanted to warm up in the nets before play yesterday but some have taken to them as a practice area rather than using using the range. No chance to get on one.
First 4 holes saw me top the or hit the ball nowhere near the middle for the first 4 holes.
Winning score was 37 points I got 32 I dropped 5 points on the first 4 holes.

My course, which is far from top end, sent out today's course status at 6.16am.
It can't be difficult.

Clubs are in a bit of a no win situation when it comes to closing the course and sending out messages. Do it too early, conditions improve and people moan the course is playable and should be open. Do it too late and others complain they have already traveled to the course.

I agree there will be times that the decision is in the balance.

But today was not that day. The late notification was simply because the person who makes that call doesn't turn up until after first tee time

Utter negativity from the 5 live commentary team.

Have just landed from holiday and driving home...turn on the radio roughly with 6 matches out on the course.

From the statements the commentary team were making about US momentum i was expecting to here there was a raft of red on the scoreboard but....no...when they bothered to go through the scores Europe we're up in 4 matches!!

Then they said Rory was "under the cosh" against Scheffler...but seemingly that is code for "all square".

Bigging up the Americans every time they have a 20foot putt and making it sound like all the European 4 footers are double breakers on glass.
