My local club stopped interviewing a couple of years ago. Now there's emails every week about raking bunkers, pitch marks and slow play.
Surely a coincidence

I can absolutely assure you that this happens whether people are interviewed or not.

Are you convinced that the old guard at your club, who would all have been interviewed, rake bunkers, repair pitch marks and whizz around the course? That would be a special level of rose tinted glasses if so.

When I was interviewed the first time it was much more an interview style meeting. Second time was more chat as I was rejoining as so they knew me anyway

Due to the closure of a club in our area there's a lot of demand and not a lot of spaces, so they will be rejecting applicants and offering some a waiting list space.

Whilst it was a lovely round today.. and made it a 3 ball half way round with a pro I've played with before.. it was blooming annoying to be stuck behind a 4 ball (we were a 2) who we caught up on the 3rd hole and we would take our time on holes and still appear on the tee as they finished teeing Off. Didn't invite us through once.

We teed off 20 mins behind them and caught them on the 3rd hole that's pretty pathetic considering we were off the black tees and them off yellows (and they did strike good balls just blooming slow)

Id say just behind by 10-15 mins , either way should always at least invite faster groups through
