Golf Random Irritations

It would be if we didn't go out as late as possible on a Saturday afternoon when the course is all but empty.

Got a meeting Tuesday before my round with our GM to discuss my concerns with the app.

Better than being fobbed off by email I guess

Our course had the raters out to re-rate our course and slope ratings back in July. They've just sent a note out that we're still number 48 in their queue and there's a 12-13 week turnaround. Sheesh. You just know after all that it's going to come back the same or even lower.

Get your cards in now while you get more shots then!

For the last 3 midweek comps the same person has jumped in with us and he is awful to play with - wandering around the place whenever you are playing a shot , no idea what noise he will make next , makes it very very hard to concentrate

That’s one thing that doesn’t bother me , think I would be suited to the LIV tour .

The lack of etiquette from visitors recently

Pitch marks not repaired

But most of all not letting us through

Got stuck behind a 4 ball all the way round today

Caught them on the 3rd hole they were 100 yards up the fairway when we got to the tee

Never looked back

Kept looking for balls and not waving us through

Same last week

Just let us through for god sake

Been to a new golf shop in Mansfield today. Went in to have a look and see if they have any mini drivers. A guy politely asked
“ if I need anything give me a shout”. I had a look at the clubs in store and couldn’t see anything so I went to look for the guy. He had just left. A Young lad ( 20 ish) asks if I want any help. “ do you have any mini drivers in, I believe Taylor made have some”. I said that as they have a Taylor made stand. We walked over and he gave me a 9 degree driver. “ I said that’s a driver”. He responded by saying “ yes but that’s 9 degree so it’s smaller than a 10.5 degree driver”. I was gobsmacked. I said “ No the mini driver has a smaller head”. “ Ah” he replies and promptly hands me a 3 wood. “ There you go” he proudly said. For the first time in a long time I was speechless. I eventually said “ a mini driver is between a driver and fairway woods”. He didn’t have a clue.
Suffice to say I was somewhat gobsmacked you would have someone trying to sell something they have no knowledge about whatsoever.

Personal pride would make me want to know my job properly, whatever the job. Not knowing basics would horrify me, it would be embarrassing. Clearly, there are plenty it doesn't bother though ☹️
It may have literally been his first day, chucked in at the deep end with no training for all we know. I'd definitely blame the employer for not ensuring their staff are trained, rather than blaming the staff themselves.

Having said that though, in my mind I kind of expect those who work in golf shops to have an interest in golf on a personal level, so surprising that he didn't know what a mini driver was.

To be honest, when I saw the first guy. He was very polite and offered his services. I thought first impressions, very good. After that. Well at least I now know a 9 is smaller than an 10.5🤦
