Played with some mates (ex) today who I have known 20 plus years.

Said I wanted to add a GP card and they said no as it would slow the game down. There are gimmeees.

Only wanted 9 holes so maximum 4/5 minutes if that.

Unbelievable Jeff!
I'm confused - why is it up to them? If I'm putting a card in I just do it and ask who'll sign it off for me at the end.

That's a shame . Why was returning the card so important that it was worth breaking 20 year friendships over?

Did not say I broke a 20 year friendship. I had pre registered so I needed an arrester.

i said I was to put in a crd. Both of them said it slows the game down so we are not attesting. No issue. Still went for a drink afterwards, just disappointed.

You did say the mates (ex) so a reasonable assumption that you fell out

Getting "fogged" off the course......
Normally were too high for the valley fog and too low for the hill fog but today we got a right pea souper!
It was just playable when we went out.
All the greenkeepers were on the back 9 and we were 1st out on the front so pretty safe.
Suddenly it cleared and we could see the whole of the front 9 and beyond.....
10 minutes later and we could barely see each other.
By this time we were on the 8th and we played in..8th is a par 3 of 170ish yards with a bunker at 140ish.....couldn't see it🤣
There were groups going out all the time but we finished on 9 as it was getting silly
Had we gone on the back 9 we'd have had groups in front and behind .
Early breakfast😋

Does your club not have a fog policy? We have (I think) three different criteria for things that have to be visible for the course to be playable - marker from x tee, row of trees from y tee, etc

We do..but it's left to the players.
We have to be able to see the bunker on the 1st from the tee and we must be able to see the 11th tee from the 10th tee.
When we started both were visible..when we finished the 9th, in my view, neither were....
And that's why we came in.
The others..? If they want to risk it then that's their problem..the club has published its guidelines.
We only continued after the 6th, when it really came down, as we were at the furthest point away from the Clubhouse, the 3 remaining holes didn't encroach another hole and we knew there was nobody in front of us..the 2 ball behind were a hole back.

Surprised the club doesn’t enforce the suspension of play
