Golf Random Irritations

I'm away golfing this weekend, down in Cheshire. I have held off from checking the forecast until today, it starts to become obsessive once I start. One XC Weather, has a 90% chance of rain, only light, on the Sunday and Monday when I am playing. The Met Office has a 10% chance for the same time, same location. I mean, come on o_O

We have 5, maybe 6 reservoirs within about 5 miles of here...
I guess they're working on the principle that, if they do give way, it's so flat the water will just keep on running....

Am playing a singles match in the next few days. My opponent booked the tee time, and I noticed that there was a third name on the booking. This turned out to be a pp of my opponent. I asked him to remove it as I didn't think it was appropriate. He agreed and took it off.

Just had a look at tomorrow's bookings. A mate of mine is playing his singles match, and guess what, there is a third name on the booking, and it's my upcoming opponent, who is also a pp of my mate's opponent!!

People who spend the thick end of 2 grand to play golf at a club only to treat the course like it's something you've trodden in...
I know it's a universal problem but it grinds my gears to see pitchmarks, divots and footprints in bunkers not dealt with but just left for someone else to clear up.
A window into modern society I guess.

I have this theory that’s there are two types when it comes to not repairing

Those that can’t see the pitchmarks etc and those that won’t see the pitchmarks

There is still this belief from some that they don’t make pitchmarks

Then again looking at the poorly repairs I’m not sure if that’s any better

The first time I played the Old Course at Vilamoura there was a sign by the first green which said “repair your own and one other”, shouldn’t be that difficult should it?

I sometimes wonder if there are a group of people who believe that, because they are paying 2 grand, they don’t need to repair their pitch mark or rake bunkers.

The majority of people I've seen repairing pitch marks do it wrong.
So, genuine question: if you're going to do it wrong, is it better not to do it at all?

Don't know the definitive answer - but my money's on a poorly repaired pitchmark being better than an unrepaired one. (And yes, too many people don't repair them properly ... )

Caddying yesterday in heavy rain, the result was a major failing of the GG waterproof s. Leaked both pockets and fly,so when I took them off it linked like I'd peed myself🤣 lucky the wife didn't want me to get anything on the way home from the supermarket, could have had some embarrassing looks😂
