Golf Random Irritations

Played this afternoon. Knew I was having a good round & was on for my best ever score. Stood on the par 3 18th tee with a score of 82, 13 over par (hcp 24) proceeded to put 3 balls in the water & ended up taking a 10!! Gutted :mad:
Did you put all three in the water from the tee? If so, schoolboy error πŸ€ͺ

Net double bogey for handicap reasons.

Is the water OB? If not could you not have took your 2 clubs lengths (assuming red stakes) and dropped rather than playing from the tee again?

Weather again.

This time it's the flash flood that arrived at 3pm so by the time I got the course at 4pm it was closed. Course is baked so much that the water can't even seep into the ground, massive puddles just laying on top of fairways and greens. They also had to cancel the Seniors Open they had on so couldn't get a seat in the clubhouse to drink my pint until some of them left.

Junior golfers, specifically at my course, they all seem to be the slowest golfers we have.

I was stuck behind a lad and his dad tonight, not only did the lad take 8 million practice swings, he would then start another part of his elaborate pre-shot routine and then proceed to stand over the ball for what felt like an eternity, before hitting some wildly rubbish shots.

My mate and I played behind the Stephen Gallagher foundation juniors at Dunbar one Sunday afternoon and I can say quite honestly they were the slowest groups I have ever played behind in more than 50 years of playing, to be fair not the youngest boys and girls who had adults walking round with them, some of them were almost running between shots, but the older and better players who were at the back of the field, their pace of play was almost glacial, personally I think they get it from watching the Pro's

Sadly I think you're spot on with this.

The final 2 groups in the field were clearly all very good players, in fact one young lad in the last group was the Scottish Amateur champion, we could tell they were good as we had time to watch virtually all their shots !
we reckon they had lost about 5 holes by the end of the round, there was no one from the foundation out on the course to check on their progress, I did wonder if etiquette was covered in their get togethers πŸ€”

Time to implement group pace of play policy?

Wasn't that bad for our rollup. Constant drizzle turning to easy rain from 9am to noon....did the ground some good without coming down too fast. We could do with a few more days like that.

Having your ball played by someone else on a different hole...probably.
Hit my drive on our 9th (our last)..a bit too left but should either be in the bunker or beyond it in the tree line....
There are players going down the 1st which runs alongside in the opposite direction.
There's a slight crest on our fairway so you can't normally see your ball land.
We get to the area and start loo,ING...not in the bunker so must be in the tree line....nowhere in sight....
CVG spots a ball 40 yards further down a d right of my line....maybe it hit a tree and bounced out like Fragger's would....
No, not mine...a Callaway but a Supersoft not a Chrome Tour X...
Then I realise what has likely happened...
The Old Boys comp was in full swing and the 3 ball on the first where part of it..
One of them drove a bit left off the 1st into the tree line....lost sight of the ball...walked up, found a Callaway and thought "that's mine" and played it...
His ball was on our fairway.....by the time this scenario clicked in it was way too late and I just finished there....it wouldn't have affected the score to any great extent...

JUST BLOODY ANNOYING!!!!!
