Golf Random Irritations

We play ready golf and I am quite a quick player. That means I am on the green and ready to go before the others most of the time. In that situation I will go first, leave the flag in. Once the flag comes out, I don't ask for it back in, I'm not that bothered. I do think it is ironic that flag out people seem to blame flag in people for wanting it back in when the whole process is started by them asking for it out. You start the hole with the flag in, flag out people are the ones mixing things up.
I'm the same. Generally leave it in with my normal mates. Would only take it out if it's leaning towards me or blowing towards me in the wind which makes me think it might keep the ball out. But if playing with someone who takes it out, I don't put it back in unless I've got a rapid downhiller.

We've done the same as we were getting too much hole damage from people trying to flick the ball out with the slim ones and folks using gizmos on the end of putters getting the ball out.
Also had to send 8 back over the 2 years we had them as they kept getting bent so not standing straight.
On a recent factory tour they admit they're now strengthening the slim ones
As someone who uses the SuperStroke gizmo on the end of my putter grip I fail to see how it's used can cause any damage to the hole.

Less profile within the cup than those using their hand to retrieve the ball.

However, hooking the ball with the putter head or pulling the flag out hoping the ball comes with it are definitely a no-no in my eyes.

It's the folks that go in in an angle leaving damage/indents to the side of the hole .
I've tried educating them to come in from the top so to speak but 4 or 5 holes later they slip back into old habits.
Most of the slim ones we replaced were in their second year

It’s when people lazily rest the club against the side of the hole when using their gizmo

A number have been seen to damage the side of the hole by using them and

I got one of these a few weeks ago, blooming brilliant for my dodgy back, and @Arthur Wedge mentioned the problems that he'd seen at his club. A PP uses one and I've been watching him, and other players quite closely on this. He and I both fully remove the flag, no matter the thickness of pin ;), and then come in virtually vertically from above. Nowhere near the edge. However, I can see how some lazy people could do damage, the potential is there.

Something I have observed which I had not noticed previously. Some people who go to get their ball out of the hole with their fingers and don't remove the flag first of all. They are having to force their way in and out and they can also cause damage to the edge of the hole. It's basically inconsiderate people, lazy people.

Anything used properly will do the job, and lazy people will always be the ones causing the issues

The same ones that don’t repair pitch marks , divots and rake bunkers

Can you use it to tee up for you as well??

Sadly not, you still need to put the tee in the ground and there is not a ball release mechanism on it ☹️ .

It's ridiculous what those extra few inches being lower, to pick your ball out of the cup, does in terms of effort and pain. I can take all the mocking on this, it's great :giggle:

You see the post she has done about Angel Cabrera and his previous crimes? Seems to always make it a thing about how females are treated terribly in golf etc.

That’s one of the issues

There was a post about he saying it’s disgusting how some men sexualise lady golfers at the same time she is desperate to be popular by wearing tight fitting joggers

She wasn’t happy when people pointed that out

There are a lot of very good “social media” golfers who use their talent and personality to do well - she had neither

Pulled the curtains open at first light to see very dark overcast sky and wet ground (Tues&Thurs are my range days before work) Still I’d already said I’d drop my wife off at her work on way to range so I couldn’t back out
Amazed to get bucket of range balls and 50+ chips done in the dry before heading to putting green. But only a dozen putts in and the heavens opened big style and sitting in office now it’s still coming down

Still, it should get the reservoirs back over the 50% mark but annoyed I couldn’t finish off what was turning out to be a productive practice session
