On the 4th tee yesterday, the four-ball in front have spotted us and they stand to the side to wave us through. But they stand over on the right hand side, in the exact spot where my ball will go if I slice it again. So I think "bloody hell, better not slice this one" and promptly hit a massive hook (which is very rare for me) about 60 yards left which lands straight on the 7th green. With the group in front of us still waiting for us to play through, I now have to hit back onto the correct hole, but the group that are playing the 7th are looking for a ball in the rough, so I'm waiting for them to be done with that so I don't have to hit over their heads. By the time I get to the (correct) green I feel like I've been playing this hole for half an hour while being watched the whole time - and of course rush my three foot bogey putt and pull it an inch left of the hole. Terrific.
Forget the high driver draw or flop shot to a tight pin, the hardest shot in golf is the shot when you have been called through by the group in front

For what seems like forever we've had to hit off mats on the practice range (used to be off grass all the time) went up to hit a bucket this morning and no mats!... and it totally threw me to the point I was thinning shots with longer irons way too often (despite them working fine on the course)

Glad we're back on grass but annoyed I had to make tweaks to get used to it again

How annoying for you that you had a beautiful pristine grass range for your practice session. I can really empathise with this, it's similar to when my course was closed due to snow earlier this week.

I actually think it was a mistake, the ET are here in 4 weeks, they can't possible let us chew up the grass between now and then. I saw one guy 'digging for victory' and ruined two bays in 15 minutes all by himself
I reckon it'll be mats again when i go up tomorrow

Was looking forward to playing today as haven’t played much these last few months…and it’s wild, windy and wet…debating in my head (dangerous) whether to bother or not. I’ll go to club in any case and decide then.

Snowing right now, course closed until Monday at the earliest, they made this decision yesterday. Nothing the club can do about the weather.
I've just looked at a rain radar, and it is showing 3cm per hour just north of me over the next few hours, and of course you are just north of me.

3cm/hr, that is a lot of water.
