Golf Random Irritations

My constant need to chop and change. Put my Anser PLD in the bag yesterday after the Odyssey V-Fang 2 ball was performing perfectly well on Saturday. So many short putts missed yesterday. Also decided to try a more "textbook" swing rather than the Eureka swing that has been so good for my game and back. Now feeling the effects of yesterdays round much more than I have in recent weeks. I need to stick to one putter and something swing wise that is serving me well.

Chopping and changing rarely helps. Think about what the pro’s shoot. 65 one day, 75 the next, 65 the day after… They don’t make wholesale changes between rounds. We all should know by now that we don’t shoot the same score every day, and 10 shots between our best and the next round is almost to be expected. Chill, and go with the flow…

I know, hence the irritation. Everything I did was irrational and unnecessary but in my head at the time it seemed right. No need to change and no good came of it

You should try and stick with one putter unless it really isn’t working. I’ve used the same one for over four years and have never contemplated changing. When I’ve putted poorly that’s down to my poor technique.

That little bit of plastic, ferrule?, at the bottom of the driver shaft that is just "aesthethic". Well it's not. Mine moved a bit up the shaft. It is impossible to move back. Well it moved again, but I didn't notice. A massive hook off the first on Sunday. Then, random drives left, right, high, low to the point where I was joking that I was playing with a ball that wasn't round. Luckilly, our group we were all a bit poo but were having a great laugh. Today, whilst golfing with the wife and stuck behind the most ignorant three old coffin dodgers who held us up from the 7th onwards, I stood showing her the gap on my driver and saying it's a bit annoying. Then on the 15th a massive slice off the tee!. ?????? what the hell!!!!!! I held the head and tried to turn the shaft. Guess what? Squeak squeak. The shaft turned. OMG. I'm now trying to find one the same off the bay. I might try a ladies one again. 50% less but I eventually snap them. But really £70 notes for a second hand shaft?

The circus surrounding 'Blockie' at the PGA Championship

get in the bin.

He isn't a club teaching pro. He basically is a playing pro on a lot of mini tours. Just absolute horse twaddle.

It still feels too early in the season to have the 2nd major.

I understand all the reasons and rationale but nevertheless it doesn’t sit right with me.

It is aesthetic. There is no physical connection between the ferrule and the head of the club, the ferrule does nothing other than provide a nice visual transition between shaft and clubhead. What is likely is that the ferrule wasnt moving at all, but the bond between shaft and clubhead had failed and the clubhead was just slowly easing off the shaft.

You do not need to buy a new shaft. Just take the club to a pro, he will remove the shaft fully, clean it up and re-install it. Shouldn't cost even half of the £70 a new shaft will.

I know!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Stupid thing is I am winning on putting strokes gained with the larger v-fang 2 ball but the milled Anser was in my locker and I love the feel of it but I need to grind out the short ones if its to work properly for me. I took it out on a whim, enticed by the soft feel off the face calling me like a siren

+1

The ferrule on my 5 wood appeared to be riding up the shaft. I ignored it as cosmetic.
Then a few weeks ago it started hooking all the time.
Turns out the club head itself was loose. I was actually able to pull it off the shaft by hand.
Got the club pro to re-fix it and all is well.

Sometimes putters (and other clubs) have to be left in a cold, dark place (locker, boot of car, root cellar) for a while. Then, when taken out on the course, they will perform better! :)
