Sorry this is a bit early to discuss, or maybe not, but the amount of posts that pop up on my Facebook pages regarding golf memberships locally is getting beyond a joke. All, that have popped up so far, are offering 15 months for 12. Nothing new there. But it's the amount of posts. The lastest one being Astbury in Congleton. This is known for being a quality place locally, still has a joining fee! Even they are getting in on the act. I'm not sure, but I think they used to have a waiting list! Things must be grim.

After the 2020 Covid boom I'm guessing that golf membership is declining somewhat, so clubs are doing everything they think is necessary in order to snare their share of a smaller pool of participants.

My business partner has just moved close and joined there without a wait. Was a joining fee though.

Free winter golf to April and then 15 months for 12 at 2024 rates.

Never played it, so looking forward to getting there soon.

We're facing tough economic times - I suspect golf memberships will take a hit! For many, me included, a membership doesn't offer the greatest value for money and I'm always considering my options.
I run a small businesses and in addition to the economic outlook being pretty bleak, I've got increased employment costs of around £3500 a year to cover thanks to a certain 'economist'

If something has to give, it will be the golf membership.

Also worth noting that clubs will be trying to generate cash flow at the moment while revenues are down, whether that be retail or bar sales or green fees.
