Contract about to finish at work so thinking of taking off for a week to get some golf in before winter arrives.

Looking at Vilamoura as one possibility, Maybe taking a 5 round package such as:

Anyone know if the courses are likely to pair up single players with other groups as playing yourself obviously isn't much fun?

Anyone recommend anything else not too expensive, with half-decent golf, a dececent climate in first week of October and topless ladies.

Obviously you can't guarantee being paired up but I think most courses would try to help and may even force you to if it is busy. If you are in the Vilamoura hotels you are bound to meet other golfers too so may be able to hook into other groups that way.

You should not have too much problem getting paired up. If going to Vilamoura, you are also pretty close to the Quinta do Lago courses and San Lorenzo. If you are prepared to drive one hour, I would unreservedly recommend Monte Rei. I played there on my own, and literally had the entire course to myself.

If going to Villamura make sure you have a valid handicap certificate with you. It is the only course I have ever been asked to produce one before being allowed to play.

Having visited the Algarve on a number of occasions, whenever we have had an odd number of golfers in our party we have always had a single golfer put in with us. Bear in mind though that we have usually gone in May when the courses are a little busier. The time of year, allied to the fact that golf courses are struggling in the recession may see you out on your own or maybe just in a two-ball.
Next year we are thinking of going on an "all inclusive" to Turkey instead. Hearing nothing but good reports about golf out there and without the pressure of the euro it works out a lot cheaper too.

Yeah had a look at Turkey, in particular Lykia:

Decent price at around 600-700 for 7 nights all inclusive plus 4 rounds. However the hotel doesn't get particularly great reviews plus it would appear to be in the middle of nowhere.
